The set also includes a 96-page full-color booklet with comprehensive liners, interviews, anecdotes, and rare photos. The music in this set is some of the wildest, most frantic garage band blues/R&B/beat music from the sixties in Britain. While some of the groups featured may be familiar to fans of British sixties rock, such as The Nashville Teens and The Pretty Things, many are relatively unknown. The vocals are delivered with attitude, the harmonica work is rough but exciting, the drumming is straightforward and pushes the music forward, and the guitars are cranked up and played with plenty of attitude and ferocity.

This set is not just a collection of bottom-of-the-barrel scrapings from the recording studio floor. In the late '60s and part of the '70s, the Ladbroke Grove area of West London was home to a thriving bohemian community that included hippies, activists, psychedelic experimenters, and a good number of bands funneling all of this energy into strange and exciting new rock & roll sounds. In that time, Ladbroke Grove and its adjoining sectors of Notting Hill and Holland Park were decades away from gentrification and offered the kind of low rent and under-maintained environment that artistic movements historically blossom in, and a cluster of freakish bands quickly congealed into a localized scene. Deviation Street: High Times in Ladbroke Grove 1967-1975 collects key artifacts from this scene, with three discs and more than 50 tracks from bands as well known as Roxy Music, Hawkwind, and Tyrannosaurus Rex (an early iteration of T. Rex) but mostly made up of more obscure artists. Tracks by more recognizable names are still off the beaten path, with pre-Hawkwind configuration Hawkwind Zoo contributing their mellow and beautiful folk-psych track "Hurry On Sundown" and Roxy Music's drony and experimental "2HB (Demo Version)" coming from the band's very first 1971 recording sessions. Other acts of note included on the comp are the Action, the Pretty Things, and the Pink Fairies, who burn the house down with their fiery ten-minute-plus proto-prog jam "Uncle Harry's Last Freak Out." The songs from the lesser-known acts are as interesting as those from the bands that made it out of Ladbroke Grove, and sometimes convey more daring creativity or more specific perspectives. Third Ear Band's "Very Fine…Far Away" is a formless cloud of floating voices and synthesizer textures that predicts ambient rock by at least 20 years. Blues-rocker Ram John Holder gets downright colloquial with some of his contributions, zeroing in on the joys and tribulations of his immediate surroundings on locals-only songs like "Ladbroke Grove Blues" and "Notting Hill Eviction Blues." The massive comp covers a lot of ground, most of it strange, surreal, and psychedelic, and the majority of material from the under-famous bands here is seeing widescale release for the first time. Taking in the Deviation Street's entire four-hour program is a transportational trip back to what must have been a wild and beautiful window of music history, with lots of weird wonders being unearthed. R.E.M. was an alternative rock band from Athens, Georgia, that formed in 1980. The band consisted of four members: singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills, and drummer Bill Berry. Known for their arpeggiated guitar style and Stipe's unique vocal delivery, R.E.M. gained critical acclaim and a loyal fanbase with their early releases, including their first single "Radio Free Europe" and debut album "Murmur."

R.E.M.'s success continued with subsequent releases and constant touring, but it was their mainstream hit "The One I Love" in 1987 that catapulted them to a wider audience. They signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1988 and released their two most commercially successful albums, "Out of Time" (1991) and "Automatic for the People" (1992), which deviated from the band's established sound.  In 1994, R.E.M. released "Monster," which showcased a more rock-oriented sound. However, the tour to support the album was marred by medical emergencies suffered by three band members. In 1996, R.E.M. re-signed with Warner Bros. for a reported $80 million, making it the most expensive recording contract in history at the time. The following year, Bill Berry left the band, and R.E.M. continued as a trio with Buck, Mills, and Stipe.  Although the band's musical style changed over time, they continued their career into the next decade with mixed critical and commercial success. In 2007, R.E.M. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. However, in 2011, the band announced their split on their website, bringing an end to their career as a group.

For die-hard fans of R.E.M., "REMNANTS" is a twelve-disc bootleg release that showcases a vast array of rare and previously unreleased tracks spanning R.E.M.'s career. It includes every non-LP track, every non-LP A-side, every B-side, every compilation, soundtrack, and tribute album track, the promos, the flexis, and the ever-elusive fan club singles. Even if you own every R.E.M. album, "REMNANTS" provides the other half of the story.

Each CD in "REMNANTS" is organized thematically and focuses on a different aspect of the band's career. The first CD features early demos and live recordings, while the second CD includes rare B-sides and outtakes. CDs three and four are devoted to live recordings from various concerts and tours, showcasing the band's impressive live prowess. After years of mythology, misinterpretation, and procrastination, Steven Stapleton, the founder of Nurse With Wound, finally selected Finders Keepers Records as the ideal collaborators to release "the right tracks" from his Nurse With Wound List, a legendary and influential list of musicians and bands compiled by the experimental British group in the late 1970s. This resulted in the release of a French-specific Volume One of the authentically titled Strain Crack Break series. 

"Strain, Crack & Break: Music From The Nurse With Wound List Volume 1 (France)"       is a fascinating and diverse compilation that showcases some of the most experimental and boundary-pushing music from the French underground scene during the 1970s and 1980s. The tracks on this album span a wide range of styles, from avant-garde jazz and free improvisation to musique concrète and electronic music, and feature artists who were part of the wider scene and those who were on the list. The music is often challenging and unsettling, with dissonant sounds, unconventional rhythms, and unexpected shifts in tone and texture.  Despite the experimental nature of the music, there is also a sense of playfulness and creativity that runs through many of the tracks. "Strain Crack & Break: Music From the Nurse With Wound List Vol. 2 (Germany)"   is a fantastic compilation album that continues the exploration of the influential and enigmatic Nurse With Wound list from the late 1970s.  The album features a diverse selection of tracks from some of the most groundbreaking and experimental artists of the time, spanning a wide range of genres including psych, prog, jazz, and electronic music. The album opens with "Output" by Wolfgang Dauner, a mesmerizing and atmospheric piece that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Only one compilation per week from each contributor with a limit of 25 tracks per track list per submission. (Total 25 tracks only). You can submit a new track list the following week.

The Topic is your choice, Genre is your choice and any music is acceptable. (If readers don't like the topic or choices then they don't have to pick them up)

 When presenting your submission, the Topic of your compilation should be Noted as well as the sound quality of the compilation. (i.e., 320Kbps MP3, Flac, etc).

Whilst most would prefer MP3's @ 320 kbps all I request is a good sound quality. 

A track list must be supplied together with a LINK for your Compilation.  (Please do not send the compressed file)

Artwork is not necessary but would be welcomed. All submissions need to arrive via email to:

Entries must be received by Midnight, Wednesday. (Wherever you are in the world.)

Once received, your entries will be checked for content matching the track lists provided. If an entry is considered unsafe or different to the track list provided it will be deleted. If your submissions are outside the guidelines, they will not include (No questions asked and no reply)
