THE ORIGINALS
VA - We Were First, 180 Hits in Their Original Versions [2015] (10 x CDs)
You know these artists and their hits and maybe own some of them, too. But all of the 180 songs on this 10-CD-box have a pre-history, as they were previously available on records by other artists, sometimes decades before they eventually hit the charts
This release marks the first ever compact collection of the most important and renowned hits in Pop-history in original versions by the original artists. Most of them will be completely unknown to music-fans, but some of them have delivered the templates for hits or instigated a star's career.
A select few of these titles were re-imagined in German and thus developed into hits there often without listeners ever knowing about the originals at all. Yet another instance where this boxset will come in handy. On rare occasions German Schlager were also adapted by British or American stars and thus turned into hits in their homelands in English, of course. CD 10 presents some prime examples of this practice. (B)

Music weaves itself into the fabric of our emotions, dances through the corridors of memory, and whispers to the soul of who we are. Sharing these stories deepens the connection, turning the experience into something timeless and profound.

Hi D.
DeleteIt's a very nice compilation.
Cheers.
This is going to be a weird comment request (and out there as well) I saw that Moon Mullican is on this and I have been looking for a cover album of Moon Mullican songs by Austin Country star Cornell Herd called "American Shadows: The Songs of Moon Mullican". Do you or anyone you know have it? I'm specifically looking for a song on that album titled "Fools Like Me". That being said, this looks like another amazing album.
ReplyDeleteHi Pol,
DeleteI have checked my archives and sorry to say I don't have the track "Fools Like Me".
I do hope you find it, Pol.
Cheers.
Thanks for checking...
DeleteHi Pol,
DeleteRichard has posted a Cornell Hurd set. Check below.
Cheers.
Thanks, saw it, got it!
DeleteHi, is that an accident. or do you not want Lolita to be named as the original singer for Seeman, Deine Heimat Ist das Mer. An outstanding job. I might be able to find Cornell Hurd, with a U not an E
ReplyDeleteHi Richard,
DeleteAccident! I appreciate the alert.
I am sure Pol would be grateful if you could find the Cornell Hurd track. Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
I would definitely appreciate it! And that was a dyslexia spelling error. I knew it was Hurd, but my brain didn't communicate with my fingers

Deleteonly missing the intro song to Cornell Hurd band
Thank you, Richard.
DeleteMuch appreciated.
Cheers.
Got it! Thanks!
DeleteGreat and interesting collection - any significance in the cover ( motorbike with sidecar)?
ReplyDeleteNo Idea, Dr Robert.
DeleteThis is the one that was issued by the label who released it. I don't see a connection.
Cheers.
The new (in this case: old & original) "perspective studies" go on & on! Wonderful discovery, BB, I am very keen to dive into all of these tracks (and then: compare ...). Best, TC
ReplyDeleteHi TC.
DeleteI agree this set is truly fascinating, there’s so much depth to explore in these original versions. Enjoy the journey.
Cheers.
thank you so much
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Aussie.
DeleteCheers.
When listening to original versions a thought comes to mind. "If you don't know where you're coming from, you don't know where you're going".
ReplyDeleteHi lemonflag.
DeleteToo deep for me... I gave up on the chicken or the egg theory in music. So often you hear a very old piece of music, and it seems familiar.
Cheers.
