Pink Floyd - Meddle (Limited Deluxe Edition) [2018] (4 x CDs)

Pink Floyd’s Meddle has long been considered a turning point in the band’s evolution, bridging their early psychedelic sound with the progressive rock mastery that would define their later years. The Limited Deluxe Edition (2018) brings a fresh perspective to this classic album, offering high-resolution remasters and rare outtakes that deepen the listening experience.

One of the standout features of this edition is the quad mix of "Echoes", a track that has always been a sonic journey in itself. The remaster enhances the atmospheric layers, making the song feel even more immersive. Additionally, the inclusion of live performances from Cleveland (1971), Hollywood Bowl (1972), and Earls Court (1973) showcases the band's ability to transform their studio work into electrifying stage moments.

Meddle is a true group endeavor, with each member of Pink Floyd actively shaping its sound and direction.

Beyond the music, this edition is a collector’s dream. With only 300 numbered copies, it’s a rare gem that fans and audiophiles alike would treasure. The packaging and liner notes provide insight into the album’s creation, offering a glimpse into the band's creative process during this pivotal era.

For those who have loved Meddle for decades, this edition is a chance to hear it anew, with enhanced clarity and depth. And for newcomers, it’s an opportunity to experience Pink Floyd at a moment when they were refining their sound, setting the stage for masterpieces like The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here. 3. My friend Butter.
Meddle 4 CDs? With the repeated songs, I think it's a mockery of the record companies, who are trying to squeeze Pink Floyd.
Having the original LP is enough.
Unfortunately, these things happen very often, and I wonder if we're doing the right thing by publicizing them, instead of ignoring them, to avoid this excessive financial ambition of the record companies.
    Regards
    Jose

    1. Hii Jose,
I totally get where you're coming from. The repeated tracks do make it feel like a cash grab, and it's frustrating to see record companies continually repackage albums in ways that seem excessive. The original LP holds its own magic, and sometimes that's really all we need. It's a tough call, publicising these releases can bring awareness, but it also feeds into the cycle of over-commercialisation. Definitely something to think about.
My main goal was to share this rare box set, which includes the Quad mix of Echoes and an interview from the Echoes recording session.
I always felt this was an amazing highlight for Pink Floyd. I went to see the movie, Pink Floyd; Live at Pompeii countless times and Echoes was its masterpiece.
      Cheers

  4. Thanks very much for this BB - and only one version of "Seamus" (luckily)!

  5. There's a set like this for every album. They're called the High Resolution Master Series. They're incredibly worthwhile. They're not official, though. I suspect some people think that the official releases aren't always perfect (mastering, bonus material, and so on), so let's do it ourselves, the way we as fans imagine it.

    Thank you, BB!

I am delighted that you like this set and similar ones. Fan based sets are sometimes done with the correct passion and care.
