VA - The Many Faces Of Stevie Wonder [2021] (3 x CDs)

The Many Faces of Stevie Wonder is a 2021 three-CD compilation released by Music Brokers, offering a multifaceted tribute to one of music’s most iconic figures. Subtitled A Journey Through the Inner World of Stevie Wonder, the set blends early recordings, reinterpretations, and soul classics that shaped the environment in which Wonder thrived.

Disc One features rare early tracks from Stevie himself, including “I Call It Pretty Music But the Old People Call It the Blues,” “Contract on Love,” and a live version of “You Are the Sunshine of My Life.” Collaborations with Clarence Paul and Marvin Gaye add historical depth, showcasing Wonder’s formative years at Motown.

Disc Two shifts to reinterpretations of his hits by international artists, with smooth covers of “Superstition,” “My Cherie Amour,” and “I Just Called to Say I Love You.” These renditions offer fresh perspectives while honoring the originals.

Disc Three expands the view with soul staples from legends like Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, and Ray Charles, painting a broader picture of the genre’s golden era.

With remastered sound and thoughtful sequencing, this compilation is a vibrant celebration of Stevie Wonder’s legacy and the soulful universe he helped shape. (B)
