This does not take away anything from any of them. They are all Indvidual artists and do not sound alike at all. But I would always gravitate to Dean Martin for the sound of his voice alone. He is more versatile than he is often given credit for Some late 60s and 70's material is absolutely terrific. There will definitely more Dean Martin in the future. I have most of the big sets.
Glad this one brings joy. Wonderful comments.
Cheers.Butterboyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11979489332868984101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5883466984258527857.post-77225765762253904312022-11-08T13:38:51.231+08:002022-11-08T13:38:51.231+08:00Dean Martin is surely one of the best and most not...Dean Martin is surely one of the best and most notable song interpreters for this era. He is definitely one of my favorites (along with Perry Como). In many ways I think he was better at it than Sinatra even. Nat King Cole was another terrific contemporary. These guys were rivals but really these and other like crooners each had their own great voices, choice of songs, arrangement styles, choruses, instrumentation, and vibe that made them unique. I mean I don't think you can really compare them as one being better than another. Deno sure could swing through those quasi-Italian numbers though. Nice low baritone richness. So smooth, relaxed... and like Como, could infuse a sense of humor at times. Martin and Como had their own TV Variety Shows for a while as well.
Note that Butterboy previously posted another Dean Martin set... so look for that. I hope we eventually see some Dean Martin material from the (post Capitol) Reprise days (think "Everybody Loves Somebody" and later).
Thank you very much BB. Some classic music here. This is great!mrRadiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11328929239878601885noreply@blogger.com
