Rising to prominence in the 1960's, Psychedelic folk (sometimes acid folk or freak folk) is a loosely defined form of psychedelia, is one of the most popular sub-genres of folk music. Compared to the many different forms of music to emerge during that time, psychedelic folk fused elements of the folk music of that time and psychedelic rock and was a new and exciting genre. Known for its atmospheric sound, psychedelic folk creates a mystical experience for listeners that was far removed from what music fans expect because they also fuse Eastern music bands and influence.
