The Album had its heyday in the Seventies when it became fashionable to listen (forty minutes or so) by the same artist in a particular groove, theme or concept. Some great artists pulled it off with great brio and are featured here aplenty- Dylan, the Stones, Beach Boys, David Bowie and the Beach Boys etc. It was a great format to sit on your on bum without getting up for at least twenty minutes. The downside of the introduction of this format- the music snobbishness and the fetish of the format over the song.

Oh to be young in a such a digital age where music is a plentiful and spans genre,class, race, nationality and gender. The song has become key and people can one minute listen to an old blues record, the next moment Sinatra, Abba, Roxy Music or whatever. Look at the quality of songs on this cd look at the quantity - 6 old albums worth of music- catholic and as comprehensive as one cd is ever going to be. Let's try and get past the lazy diatribe about compilations - yes I have most of this music elsewhere but how I wish I was young guy listening to this music for the very first time. Serendipity. More than half full with Punk, the Beatles, the Stones, Prog Rock, Glam Rock, Jazz, College Rock, Techno, Brit Bop, Ska, Heavy Metal, Folk, and lets not forget the majestic Dusty! (Amazon)
