TURKADELIC ROCK

VA -Turkadelic Rock (A Butterboy Compilation)
CD1+CD2+CD3

Anatolian rock (Turkish: Anadolu rock), also known as Turkish rock, is a fusion of Turkish folk and rock music. The Turkish Rock movement is believed to have begun in the 1950's with the arrival of the Shadows and developed further during the next decade with the increasing popularity of Western music acts. In he mid-1960s, soon after rock groups such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Status Quo and Omega became popular in Turkey. Examples of this style include Turkish musicians such as Cem Karaca, Baris Manço, Erkin Koray, Fikret Kizilok, Selda Bagcan, Erkut Taçkin, Cahit Oben, Selçuk Alagöz, Edip Akbayram alongside bands such as Mogollar, Silüetler, Kurtalan Ekspres, Grup Çigrisim, Grup Çagrisim, Mavi Isiklar, Apaslar, Kaygisizlar, Haramiler, Modern Folk Üçlüsü and Kardaslar. Today, Anatolian rock includes music derived from both traditional Turkish folk music and rock.  Along with the introduction of these bands, Turkish society began to undergo significant cultural changes, including the growth of multi-party democracy in the region. From 1968 to about 1975, psychedelic rock became popular in Turkey, notably the work of guitarist Erkin Koray. (Wikipedia)

Here are 93 examples of this excellent Psychedelic/Folk/Rock music from Turkey.
Just feel the music, man...

  1. Now, *here's* a very different and very interesting set - I haven't listened to good Turkish music since the mid-1980s, so thank you for sharing this, Butter! Do you have any Gülden Karaböcek on a shelf near these numbers? (Her style's more folk/pop than psychedelic, though.) Teşekkür ederim, Tereyağı!

    1. Hi Aging Child.
      Thanks.
I do have some in lower bit rates. about 30 albums. I am happy to get them to you not my rip but in my files.
Also included above, track 47 Gulden Karabocek - Nem Kaldi 3:47.

      Cheers.

    2. You know, I skimmed over all three volumes here, and Gülden's name somehow didn't jump out at me - and I was *looking* for it! I'm listening to that track right now, and enjoying her voice once more. No rush in getting her stuff out to your interested visitors (including me); if you'd like specifics, though, what I'm interested in is her releases up to 1985 or 1986, when I would listen to one or two of her... tapes? ...at work.

I don't recall now whether it was a best-of tape, and a second tape of an actual full album. But I remember specifically that one track was called simply "Bir", or "One"... but that's a common word in Turkish, and Google won't let me narrow the search to just that single word, plus her name. Still, this might help identify the album and/or best of.

Thanks as always for everything; stay safe and healthy... and happy belated Easter to you and your family!

    3. Hi Aging Child. Looking at that list can be very confusing as there is little no English words. I am not familiar with all the names of the artists but I like the music they have presented here.I couldn't name the artists off the tip of my mind with the exception of a few.
Glad you are listening to the Gulden Karabocek track.
I will post some 86/86 music by Gulden Karabocek. As i said before bit rates are low compared to normal but it is not always about the bit rate... Check the comments later for the links.

Thank you for your Easter wishes which are sent back to you and yours thru these crazy times.

      Cheers

  2. That would be wonderful Butter; thanks... and don't rush it. I like the sound as well, which bridges some Western styles and some Middle-Eastern musicianship and esthetic perspective. A lot of open Western ears are the same way; look at how well Ravi Shankar went over (from further east yet), for instance.

I understand about getting lost in names! That's me in Classical music, most especially the stunning, soul-clutching beauty of renaissance-era music, Baroque and especially pre-Baroque. The names and titles mean next to nothing to me - I can't hang a work onto it - but the sounds of the instruments and the voices are ethereal.
