This 6 x CD set that spans the period from August 1973 to May 1988. While they are best known for their '60s recordings, The Hollies recorded some masterful recordings during the '70s and '80s. Often overlooked due to their earlier influential material, this set shines a light on their most overlooked period. This collection includes album tracks, rarities, previously unreleased material and B-sides. The package comes with a 24 page booklet, with liner notes by Uli Twelker. The rich harmonies which define their trademark sound are in overflowing abundance with largely unknown classics such as "Amnesty'",I'm Down", the Springsteen penned "Sandy"'and the brilliant "Another Night".  This is one of the best Hollies collections ever produced. The sound on What Goes Around... and the 80s singles are the best sounding they have ever been. You've Gave Me Strength and You're All Woman sound amazing in true digital. They were available previously in poor bootleg versions. Laughter Turns To Tears sounds incredible. It was released originally on Magic's version of What Goes Around. Which anyone who owns that does the poor quality of the original issue.

Like many of their 60's British invasion contemporaries who struggled to find musical relevance after the hits stopped,The Hollies were dropped by their US label and fell into undeserved obscurity after the mid-70's... As such ,their rich catalog is ripe for rediscovery ,and in many cases a wonderful introduction to the best 3 part harmony band the British Isles ever produced. The outstanding and always understated guitar playing by Tony Hicks is seldom less than stunning,and is always evidenced by short microbursts of inventive flair and varied dynamics. Terry Sylvester's vocal harmonies are seamless, and the rhythm section of Bobby Ellioitt's drums and Bernie Calvert's bass are rock solid. The range of Allan Clarke is amazingly on display here, as well as his songwriting ability. Clarke recorded only 10 more songs with the Hollies from1989 until his retirement in 2000. his latest release is an absolute must have for any fan of the golden age of British Roch/Pop. (Amazon)
