INSTRUMENTAL 70's
VA - 70's Instrumentals Rock (A Butterboy Compilation) CD1+CD2+CD3
Seventies instrumental hits were strange and diverse, as the musical climate began to expand in the 1970's. Instrumental rock is rock music that emphasizes musical instruments and features very little or no singing. Examples of instrumental rock can be found in practically every sub genre of rock, often from musicians who specialize in the style. Many instrumental hits came from the R&B, Funk and disco world. Rock also produced its share of Instrumentals in the 70's. The Allman Brothers Band is often not considered an instrumental rock band but they play many instrumentals. The jazz fusion of the 70's often had considerable stylistic cross-over with rock and provided several instrumental hits. Jeff Beck also recorded two instrumental albums in the 1970's. Progressive rock and art rock performers of the 1960's and 1970's deserve some mention. Jazz artists like Miles Davis also provided a wealth of instruments, while not hits, are just magical (The track included here is a killer). Many of these musicians featured virtuosity instrumental performances. Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield, a progressive rock album released in 1973, was all instrumental (save for some brief spoken words) and is one of the best-selling instrumental albums ever, with 16 million copies sold (and included here).
I posted this a little time ago but there were quite a few 60's tracks included. (for those who picked it up [over 1500 dl's] you may have a collectors item. :-)
I have modified this selection to be as the title suggests 70's tracks only. So without further ado... here are some of the best Seventies Instrumental Rock (?) songs that reflected these changes perfectly, 75 instrumental rock hits and obsessions of the Seventies. Enjoy!

Cool idea, thanks. But these can't be real CDs, not with those timings!
ReplyDeleteHi Gummo,
DeleteThat is how they come out after copying and sequencing . One track Funkadelic - Maggot Brain has had the intro removed.
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the compilation.
Cheers
Thanks Butterboy for this revised edition!

You are welcome Il Commendatore.
DeleteSo great tracks have been added.
Cheers.
Hello Mr Butterboy, found your Blog by accident and have to say: Respect! This compilation worked well. Unfortunately there is no Batcave/Deathrock-Compilation here. But I like what you do. So much time, for so much good and different music. Respect! with best regards from Vienna/Austria PS: I am a child of the 80´s and you need a Prince special including him, his family and protegés.
ReplyDeleteHi dj Sündenfall,
DeleteThanks for you generous appreciation and kind words, despite the fact that I have no Batcave/Deathrock artists included. Regards Prince, Firstly thanks for the suggestion (I can see a place for that)as I have much of his music. Here is a link to a Prince compilation from my Blog.

Cheers.
Wheee! The return of Butterboy-curated instrumentals! Thank you for the reboot, Butter... and an added sugar-on-top thank-you for the years of issue. Enjoy your weekend; you know what a lot of us will be listening to during our own...
ReplyDeleteThanks Aging Child,
DeleteBetter to reboot than be wrong. Its Interesting to note that Green Onions was reissued as a single in 1979.
I'm listening to Neil Young's Homegrown album 2020 at the moment. I'm going to follow that with Bob Dylan's latest and for good measure I'm going to listen to Big Mam Thornton again.
Enjoy the weekend
Cheers
Hi BB, thanks for this and you did a magnificent job = Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHi Coffee Messiah.
DeleteThank you. Hope these selections also improve that seventies feel.
Cheers.
Two of my favorites, 70s and Instrumentals. Thanks Butterboy!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm... Feeling you.
DeleteEnjoy the music dc_animal.
Cheers.
Amazing. Thanks again Butterboy.
ReplyDeleteMan do you put a lot of work into your site. Just trying to read it all tires me out! But this is a great compilation. I am so glad that you put "Sunny Side Of Heaven" by Fleetwood Mac. That is a Danny Kirwan song. He was one of the most underappreciated guitarists of all time. Eric Clapton once had him show him his technique for bending notes. I would say keep up the good work but you have already done SO MUCH. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteHi Buzzcut9
DeleteI am glad you have found this compilation It is always nice to hear from the visitors of this site and hear they are enjoying what they find. Thanks to you.
There are a few hundred BB compilation on site.
Thanks for your kind words.
Cheers.
Dank U BB
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, bluero54. Enjoy.
DeleteCheers.
