BAGPIPES ROCK

VA - Bagpipes For Monty (A Butterboy Compilation) CD1+CD2

The bagpipe is a musical instrument using enclosed reeds fed from a constant reservoir of air in the form of a bag. Though the Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe and Irish uilleann pipes have the greatest international visibility, bagpipes have been for centuries played throughout large parts of Europe, the Caucasus, around the Persian Gulf and in Northern Africa. In recent years, often driven by revivals of native folk music and dance, many types of bagpipes have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity and, in many cases, instruments that were on the brink of obscurity have become extremely popular. This list details the use of bagpipes in a variety of works, from classical to jazz and rock. (Wikipedia)

What you will find here are tracks that represent Bagpipes used in rock music. Songs that feature 100 percent real bagpipes. Tracks with instruments that sound like bagpipes (Steve Earle's - Coperhead Road and Big Country’s - In a Big Country etc.) were not Included in this compilation. Traditional Highland Bagpipes tunes we also not included.

I hope you will enjoy the bleat.

Saw him many times and my music collection (Vinyl CD and the digital) has most of his output.
Im still a big fan of what he gets up to.
This will be a great listen Im sure.

      Thanks once again.

  8. We've said it a thousand times!
    Butterboy knows music!
I saw this request...I thought "Oh, yeah! Bagpipes are righteously formidable".
Then I remembered, Mull Of Kintyre...and, that was the extent of my knowledge to do with the instrument.
    Beautiful job, Sire!
To the high country, we go!

    1. Hi Kwai Chang,
      Hope you are well.
Thanks for you words of encouragement. Bagpipes was one I avoided for a while even after a number of requests. But at the end of the day a pretty interesting compilation appeared.

      Cheers.
