Julian Cope is the man (Always loved The Teardrop Explodes and his Solo/other group offerings)
Its his writings that really get things going.
Hes a bit of an aficionado on Krautrock and ofcourse his Japrocksampler book is a must.
Maybe he will give the Italians a go sometime.
Stay Safe
Cheers
Stephen
