K Tells Vol. 30
Super Duper Deluxe Going Out with a Bang Edition!
A message to all loyal Butterboy blog visitors.
I've decided to take a break from the K-tells series for a while, mainly because I've run out of compilations compiled to date.
With today’s post it will mark 90 albums posted over the past 30 weeks. A great number of these albums have never appeared on the internet before, so true exclusives to this blog. I need another year or so to compile the next batch that will hopefully run for about the same amount of time. I hope you have all enjoyed the selections posted so far, particularly in such high quality, and a HUGE thank you to BB for accepting my contributions and for all his time and effort in helping to make these available.
The three albums posted today are really like a greatest hits of K-tel. All double albums, so you're actually getting six CDs worth of classic 60's/70's smashes as a big send off until normal service is resumed!
So, until next time… that's all folks!
K.
VA - 40 Supergreats - 40 Top Ten Hits (K-tel NE 708 UK) (2021 Remaster) (2CD) (1975) 40 Supergreats - 40 Top Ten Hits was originally released as a double album by K-tel in the UK in 1975. Compiled as always using the very latest and highest quality digital remasters for superior sound quality and enjoyment. Featuring all original unedited 7" single mixes, including a few hard-to-find tracks, some of which have never appeared on a K-tel compilation before or since.
VA - 44 Superstars - 44 Original Hits - 44 Original Stars (K-tel NE 939 UK) (2021 Remaster) (2CD) (1976) 44 Superstars - 44 Original Hits - 44 Original Stars was released as a double album by K-tel in the UK in 1976. Compiled as always using the very latest and highest quality digital remasters for superior sound quality and enjoyment. Featuring all original unedited 7" single mixes, including a few hard-to-find tracks, some of which have never appeared on a K-tel compilation before or since.
VA - 40 Number 1 Hits - 40 Great Hits by the Original Artists (K-tel NE 1008 UK) (2021 Expanded Edition) (2CD) (1977) 40 Number 1 Hits - 40 Great Hits by the Original Artists was released by K-tel in the UK in 1977. Advertised as '40 Number 1 Hits', I've always found it strange that Stephanie de Sykes' "Born with a Smile on My Face" never actually made it to #1 in the UK or any other country in the world. She had her first hit in 1974 with the Roger Holman penned "Born with a Smile on My Face" which reached Number 2 in the UK Singles Chart. It also reached number 19 in Australia. This 2021 remastered expanded edition now includes an additional 5 bonus tracks all reaching #1 in the UK before the original album release date of 1977.
Disc 1 has a new running time of 79:19
Disc 2 has a new running time of 78:26
Enjoy!
K

Its been a great effort.........."Get It On"..............................
ReplyDeleteThank You so much.
Still September = Marc Month
Cheers
Stephen
Thanks, Stehen.
DeleteHope you have enjoyed them.
Cheers.
*NOTE - On 44 Superstars - C.C.S. is the name of the artist (Not - "Whole Lotta Love")
DeleteThe whole "K" Series/Posts have been wonderful......
I am amazed as to how many of these tunes I have in my (physical) collection!
Many original singles (both 7''& 12").
It would be (really) great to have FLAC Files!!!!!!?
A suggestion for further posts by "K".....why not put something up every month or so to give some time to the compilation process? Rather than make us all wait a year!
Thank You once again
Stay safe
Cheers
Stephen
Thank You K and BB for a fantastic series, it will keep me very happy over the winter months.
ReplyDeleteThank you Danbis 1008.
DeleteCheers
I can't say I'm not a little sad to hear that these are the last of them (for awhile), because I will miss looking for them to appear. I am very grateful to your hard work compiling these. I love every one of them. Thanks, K and thanks, BB for hosting them. Great walk through of my start in collecting records and great updates on them all!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pol.
DeleteAppreciated.
Cheers.
K, thankyou from the bottom of my heart for your astonishing contributions. You have taken us on journeys and made life all the sweeter for it. Good luck in all your future endeavours and may your turntable keep on spinning (thanks as ever to our host with the most, the extraordinary Chico di Manteca himself, Sir BB).
ReplyDeleteThank you, harry the dog.
DeleteWell summed up and appreciated.
Cheers

ReplyDeleteK
ReplyDeleteThank you for the devotion and kindness you have shown us. It will take a while to get to listen to all the new things you have brought me. Enjoy your gap-year. See you soon, "the days are long and the years are short".
Hi BB.
Thank you K, it's been quite an adventure for me.
ReplyDeleteThis series has been so much fun, full of great memories and songs I'd been missing. THANK YOU. Always leave 'em wanting more, K!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea the length and breadth of the K-Tell record issues. Thanks for all your superb scholarship and hard work, K! Thanks for being you, BB!
ReplyDeleteThe end of a short but incredible era. Thank you K and BB for reviving some amazing childhood memories with these compilations. Fantastic stuff, and I'm most grateful. Best SPx
ReplyDeleteA truly excellent effort in collating so many of K-Tels compilations. Many thanks for pulling them together and given there are many hundreds more K-Tel compilations out there and they were still releasing new ones five years ago (they seem to have turned to individual artists since) a sequel or indeed many sequels to your series would no doubt be most welcome....Here's hoping....
ReplyDeleteThank you for your efforts in recompiling these discs. I purchased many of the original LPs, though was dissatisfied with their sound/compression/track length. You have rectified that! Have a good break!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Mike M
Thanks K for all of the hard work that you put into these comps! Thanks to BB for the great site!
ReplyDeleteThanks K and BB, i'm sure season 2 will be a hit!
ReplyDeleteLet me add my sincere Thank You for this wonderful collection of memories. Looking forward to the next set.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing series. This brought out my long-lost love for K-Tel albums. Thank you!
