MEMPHIS JUKEBOX
VA - The Memphis Jukebox Vol. 1 + Vol. 2 +Vol. 3 [2010] (3 x CDs)
The Memphis Jukebox Volume 1, 2 & 3 offers music lovers fascinating insight into the musical tastes of the King of Rock n Roll. They are the first to contain the actual music contained on Elvis Presleys personal jukebox at his Graceland home. These two unique collections allow listeners to experience and enjoy the music that Elvis Presley listened to whilst relaxing at home. Some of the tracks featured were actually recorded by Elvis during his career in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. The Memphis Jukebox is a truly unique piece of Rock n Roll history. Featuring a specially selected collection of 45 rpm singles recently discovered to have been on Elvis Presley's personal Jukebox in Graceland, recently detailed in the excellent article Secrets of Elvis Jukebox from Record Collector Magazine February 2010 (No. 372). An absolute must for Elvis and Rock n Roll collectors. (Amazon)
As such The Memphis Jukebox Volume 1, 2 & 3 gives you an insight into the music he was playing all those years ago in Graceland. Very enjoyable and nostalgic.

ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Aussie.

Thanks
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that you seem to be increasingly committed to what is from a download perspective one of the very worst file storage sites on the web. The only one I can think of that compares in terms of unreliability is Turbobit. Not only has it introduced a paywall (I believe in June) and abandoned concurrent downloading for free users (a couple of weeks ago or so) in any meaningful sense of the claim (its claims regarding free registered users are misleading to say the least ) but also the download page is bug ridden (unlike just about every other file storage provider) and its unreliable unpredictable download service offers connectivity that is 'fragile' and has no reconnect feature. It really is a cut down neanderthal download service. Krakenfiles is nothing more than a 'download a day' provider.
ReplyDeleteIn particular the lack of concurrent downloads is a particular problem if as this site does a downloader is offered a significant number of downloads over a short period. The problem being that dedicated downloaders might be faced with several hours downloading which they have to hand hold due to the provider's poor implementation.
When there are so many more download friendly and reliable storage sites (upload.ee, wetransfer, mega, pixeldrain etc etc ~ even if one excludes mediafire and zippyshare) one can only conclude that any decision is based on expedient upload features and the promise of future 'benefits' that the site claims (albeit given its already making specious claims I suspect any benefits will be meagre at best) .In short its not a site that lends itself to large scale music blogging anymore (and arguably never was)
Of course the obvious response to such concerns is 'take it or leave it' which is fair enough but such a viewpoint does provide a reflection of the attitude of any site that might adopt it and arguably flies in the face of the generous music sharing ethos shared by so many music bloggers.
As for me, given I have limited time online clearly I will need to better prioritise what I download, choose only the best offerings, use services such as torrents and Soulseek even more wherever possible and favour more friendly download sites and blogs. Shame really as most music blogs do offer very interesting material and to be hindered by their file storage service provider is a particular pity.
PS An excellent post thanks for that. Shame about the file storage provider.......
Hi Manny,
DeleteI haven't laughed so much in forever. What a wonderful reply to a post you actually liked.
You predict what the obvious response would be. Probably in most cases, but not me. I just love Yappers who keep going until they run out of steam and come to the realisation that they are wasting their time. You experience with KF great service is not common for the thousands that participate here. I have had visitors comment of File share sites you mention previously, 99 times out of 100 its's due to the owners set up on PC or Laptop or phone and due to location. I wish you would have just acknowledged what you liked rather than rant about issues that irk you. I agree with you, keep visiting the other blogs where you are happiest. Prioritise , prioritise , prioritise ... I'm still smiling.
Cheers.
Seeing the tracks lists, it appears clearly that the roots of Presley and Lennon were in the rhythm and blues. Great comps indeed!
ReplyDeleteHi Racati,

ReplyDeleteHi Un wey.
DeleteNew links established, tested and working. Enjoy.

Very Interesting! But in contrast to what I remember from a very early visit to Graceland, years before it became a museum. I remember seeing plenty of middle of the road and country LPs in his records shelf...But also must admit I have no memory of a jukebox. Maybe this was due to the efforts of a well meaning employee... Anyone else having similar memories? Great jukebox stuff in any case!
ReplyDeleteHi varenna45.
DeleteYour connection with Graceland is fascinating! It’s always intriguing to hear different recollections from visits to iconic places like Graceland. It’s possible that the collection of LPs and the presence (or absence) of a jukebox could have changed over time, especially as the estate transitioned into a museum.
And yes, the jukebox selections are indeed fantastic!
Cheers.
Excluding Nanny K. we loved it .....
ReplyDeleteHi Rockolababy,
DeleteGlad to hear you enjoyed the music. Continue to explore.
Cheers.
