VA - Sucker Punch, Jamaican Boxing Tributes [2004]

This album is a collection of reggae songs that honor various boxers, mostly from the '70s. The songs are by famous Jamaican artists, such as Big Youth, Dennis Alcapone, Derrick Morgan, and Prince Far I. The album shows how boxing influenced Jamaican culture and music, and how many Jamaicans admired and respected the black boxers who fought for glory and dignity. • “Natty Champion” by Prince Far I and “Joe Louis” by The Dynamites, which celebrate Rastafari as the champion of the world, and the legendary boxer who reigned as the heavyweight champion from 1937 to 1949.
