VA - Dusty Fingers Volume 01 to Volume 66 [1997 - 2022] (66 x CDs)

Dusty Fingers is the name of a series of compilation records of songs that are widely admired as breakbeats collected by Bronx DJ Danny Dann the Beat Mann. Some of the songs featured contain "open breaks" which are solo drum passages which enable DJs to easily transition into them. These are also attractive to producers, who loop or rearrange them to create new compositions. Following in the tradition of the Ultimate Breaks and Beats series, the Dusty Fingers records contain an eclectic range of musical styles: mainly funk and jazz, but also including soul, rock, disco, and pop. Many of the songs in the Dusty Fingers series have been sampled into new musical compositions, mainly by hip hop producers... (Wikipedia)

There were 66 volumes of Dusty Fingers, released from 1997 to 2022.

  1. Thanks for sharing BB. Have enjoyed all that I have listened to from what is freely available from Dusty Fingers. The collection went as high as volume 108, albeit only as digital releases. RIP Beat Mann, and many thanks for all of your efforts.

    1. Hi Sam,
Glad you’ve been enjoying the journey, Dusty Fingers really is one of those rare series where every volume feels like a little archaeological dig. His ear for breaks, oddities, and forgotten grooves was something special, and the influence he left behind is huge.
Thanks for sharing the love for the series.
      Cheers.

  2. Incredible work from an incredible DJ. Danny Dan has ventured into the depths of soul and hip-hop—as is typical for anything touching upon rare groove—but also into pop, rock, jazz, and more. He set absolutely no limits for himself, resulting in compilations of absolute richness and audacity. In my view, he has created countless examples of the perfect playlist—ones we will find ourselves listening to again and again.

    1. Hi Hervé,
Beautifully put, Danny Dan’s range was fearless, and that’s what made the series so addictive. He treated every genre as fair game, stitching soul, hip‑hop, pop, rock, jazz and all those odd corners into playlists that felt both daring and completely natural. Dusty Fingers really does stand as a masterclass in instinctive curation.
Thanks for capturing his spirit so well. And thank you for helping me out with this series previously.
      Cheers.
