K-tells....

It's kind of appropriate you putting these up on your blog, as it's 50 years this year since K-tel released their first compilation album in the UK in 1972. Here are short write ups of the first three UK K-tel albums:

20 Dynamic Hits - 20 Original Stars - 20 Original Hits (K-tel TE 292 UK) (2022, 50th Anniversary Remastered Expanded Edition) (1972)    is a compilation album released on vinyl and cassette by K-tel in June 1972. It reached number 1 in the UK on 17 June 1972 and was the first album put together specifically for telemarketing in that country. At a time when various artists compilations were eligible for inclusion on the UK's Official Album Chart, this was the biggest selling album of 1972.

Interesting side note: An instrumental version of "Softly Whispering I Love You" was included in error on the first pressings of this excellent compilation. Having realised the error, K-tel added a sticker to the back of the album cover to explain this. This was corrected on later pressings.   As a very special addition, I have added "Softly Whispering I Love You (Instrumental)" as a bonus track.   Now featuring all the original unedited 7" 45 single versions, this fully remastered album has a new running time of 65:06 CD length.

22 Dynamic Hits, Vol. II - 22 Original Stars - 22 Original Hits (K-tel TE 291 UK) (2022, 50th Anniversary Remaster) (1972)     is a compilation album released on vinyl, cassette and 8-Track Cartridge by K-tel in November 1972. It reached number 2 in the UK on 23 December 1972.   At a time when various artists compilations were eligible for inclusion on the UK's Official Album Chart, this was a huge selling album over the Christmas period. Now featuring all the original unedited 7" 45 single versions, this fully remastered album has a new running time of 72:44 CD length.

20 Explosive Hits - 20 Original Songs - 20 Original Stars (K-Tel TE 293 UK) (2021 Remaster) (1973)     is a compilation album released on vinyl, cassette and 8-Track Cartridge by K-tel in early 1973. Although it was advertised as having 20 hits, the album actually featured 21 tracks, with "It's the Same Old Song" by The Weathermen being listed as 'Plus'. Now featuring all the original unedited 7" 45 single versions, this fully remastered album has a new running time of 68:35 CD length.
