BEAUTY IN SONG
VA - Beauty In Song (A Butterboy Compilation) + More Beauty In Song (A Butterboy Compilation) (4 x CDs)
I truly enjoy rock songs that are best described as beautiful. They capture your heart and give you time to think. Some spark your imagination and rekindle fond (sometimes, painful) memories. That beauty is mostly in the melody and the lyric. Many are love songs and others are simply beautiful ballads which combines poignant lyrics. A beautiful song may also be just about the music, a soulful melody, and gentle refrain, soothing guitar riff or a striking guitar solo which is a fitting instrumentation to set the song apart. Some songs are so striking you get an emotional connection immediately.
There are thousands of songs that could fall into the above categories, and which affect us individually. Some artists or bands that have many songs that could be classed as beautiful. I have tried to limit song choices to include only one song by an artist but there are two entries for The Beatles, Van Morrison and John Lennon. I hope you enjoy the tracks I have chosen for these compilations. Warning, Beauty is in the ear of the beholder...
These were previously shared separately, but I’ve now brought Volumes 1 and 2 together in one convenient spot.

Hermoso compilado, le hace honor al título. Gracias
ReplyDeleteHi Mirta,
DeleteThank you so much, that means a lot.
The goal was to let the music speak for itself, and I’m thrilled it has done that for you. Beauty in song is such a personal thing, and I’m glad this collection could reflect that.
Cheers.
Thanks BB This "Musick has charms to soothe a savage breast".
ReplyDeleteHi lemonflag,
DeleteThat is a fitting quote. Music truly does have the power to calm, heal, and connect us.
Cheers.
Thank you very, very much. Great selections.
ReplyDeleteHi copacetic47
DeleteThank you kindly. I’m really glad the selections resonated with you.
It’s always a joy to share music that connects and inspires.
Cheers.
Wow, another stunner. Thanks so much Butterboy. I grew up with rock and pop (and Dixieland via my clarinet-playing dad), though at age 66 my listening now skews to extreme metal and improv jazz. Go figure. But I too remain enamored by a great song when I hear it. I'm drawn to rhythm more than melody--I immediately fell to the Stones side of the Stones/Beatles equation as a youngster. All that said, "Tears of a Clown" remains one of my favorite tracks of all time, and a Tom Jones show in 2006 remains one the most memorable live shows I've ever attended. Thank you so much for this wonderful reminder that the power of a song when words, melody and arrangement combine in magic.
ReplyDeleteHi Ian,
DeleteWhat a rich musical journey you've had, from Dixieland roots to the raw energy of extreme metal and the spontaneity of improv jazz.
I’m truly glad this compilation could stir such reflections and remind us of all of the magic that happens when a song truly comes together.
Cheers.
Just excellent, a very fitting gift for this (last, sigh) sunny weekend in Central Europe! Best, TC
ReplyDeleteHi TC.
DeleteI appreciate your warm words, thank you.
If this compilation could serve as a soundtrack to your final sunny weekend, then its purpose is beautifully fulfilled.
Cheers.
Thank you Butterboy.
