VA - The Most Underrated Rock Songs Vol.2 CD1+CD2
MORE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED ROCK SONGS VOLUME 2
VA - The Most Underrated Rock Songs Vol.2 CD1+CD2 (A Butterboy Compilation)
Songs that didn't get the deserved appreciation and recognition for its worth is common in the music industry. There any many tracks on great albums that don't get the applause because the BIG hit got there first or the track was one of many good songs and didn't get the airplay. The performers on this compilation usually have more popular songs that have appealed to the masses than these, but that does not mean these tracks are not great songs. Simply they were less popular among the majority of listeners.
Back in the 70's rock music was still a towering social force and releasing that music was big business. So many songs from so many bands. With a decade's worth of great rock music it was definitely a crowded field. Classic-rock radio often played the same one or two tracks from an artist, if that. Here's a look at rock songs, primarily from the '70's, (with the odd track from the 60's, 80's and 90's thrown in) that feel underrated today. Maybe you've heard of them, maybe you haven't, but hopefully you will find something new to add to your playlists.
This selection is a followup to Volume 1 posted about a year ago. Enjoy!

Thanks. I'd forgotten some of these!
ReplyDeleteIts a fun listen with some really wonderful tracks.
DeleteCheers
Thank you. I also heard tunes I haven't heard in a long while.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started listening to these again I really found that it was a rewarding experience.
DeleteCheers.
"Underrated", indeed! I like the familiar selections you've included... and the nice array of recordings I've never heard, or heard of... yet. So thank you for the opportunity, Butter - and the great leadoff to the first week of Summer here in the Northern Hemisphere.
ReplyDeleteThank you Aging Child.
DeleteIts always great to dust off some of the songs I used to listen to and enjoyed. I actually remember them more fondly now that they spent some time away from me.
Cheers
Well observed; many folks may find the same... with open mind and ears. E.g., I couldn't stand Disco when it was THE Thing, 1976-79, yet now some of those same tracks pluck a sentimental inner string. Other heavy-radio-rotation recordings, now long lost from the airwaves, do the same today: "Fool If You Think It's Over", "Beach Baby", "Born to Be Alive", "Shannon"... and tons more. They haven't gained depth... yet now find a more comfortable place in our hearts. How about that.
DeleteGreat selection, Thank you ! Where can I find Vol. 1?
ReplyDeleteI'll re-post Volume I today. Thanks for asking.
DeleteCheers.

Cheers.
I love this kind of compilations where I can compare my own selection of songs (only digital, rarely keeping complete albums) with those a person with taste found to be remarkable. Although tastes differ of course, this way I sometimes find great songs I had just not listened closely or often enough to. In this case the Cream track had eluded me. – One flaw I found: The It's A Beautiful Day track “White Bird” is name tagged with the group's name.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wolfgang.
DeleteI am glad you are looking at some of the older posts. There are many gems to be found.
White bird will be fixed.... soon.
Cheers.
