Hello BB.. I previously left a somewhat lengthy comment here last November when you were away on hiatus (see exchange above), but somehow, the Son of BB "accidentally" removed it. He owned up to doing that, but I don't know if he informed you when you got back. I'm very glad he kept this blog rolling along whilst you were away! So thank him for that! This Disco post is an older one so I'm hoping you get notified of any new comments, even on older posts. Fortunately, I'd made some notes of my thoughts because I really wanted to ask you about the possibility you might have some extended play disco music in your collection.

I'll try to recreate my thoughts and verbiage, now longer...........

Greetings BB.. With Disco, you've tapped into a great genre here as far as I'm concerned. The Disco era generated its fair share of crap songs to be sure, many times from producers/labels pushing their artists to "go disco" for no other reason then "that's what's selling now", when nothing was wrong with their original sound, and often by fly-by-night outfits and those just throwing crap songs with a beat out there and hoping to make money off the trending disco scene. The Bee Gees did successfully reinvent themselves this way, but they were gifted and it fit for them. As you know, Disco had a number of very great tunes, many of them here, presented by talented artists that knew how to hook you and make the most of that beat. Good Disco was a style made to get you involved in the music.. and I miss it. If you were old enough and went to dance clubs during this era, it was an exciting time. There were some disco clubs with very large colorfully lit dance floors, spotlights, mirrored disco balls, elaborate audio systems and sound sequenced lighting effects that were just stunning to behold. What I never understood though was the polarity that developed between fans of disco and rock. Why wasn't it possible for many people to enjoy both worlds? I actually saw a huge outdoor fight.. brawl? (almost a riot) break out late one night between patrons of a rock club on one side of the street when they got too close to patrons of the disco club on the near opposite side of the street. It was scary and dangerous.. I'm telling you.. I got out of there pretty fast!

Disco effected the creation of many unique and extended play versions of normal songs (12" discs), and longer LP cuts meant for playing in the clubs. I find these of special interest, and not readily available.

The 45 of that song is 3:15, the album cut is 5:15, but extended is 8:06.
There are many extended versions of Donna Summer songs, that's expected..
but also many by lesser artists like The Blackbyrds and Heatwave, etc. etc.
Actually.. many songs in this post have longer extended (12") versions.

I've been on the lookout for a collective gathering of as many of the best of these as possible and so far have not found it.. so, if you come across something like that, or perhaps one day that could conceivable be an interesting ButterBoy comp that might not be too hard to identify and put together, if you had access to the music. That's my suggestion, and ponderings.

Ref: VA - Time Life Music Disco Fever] I am new to your site. Thank you very much for these great compilations. I have never used Zippyshare before but it seams that when I click on the large rectangular "Download" button, it takes you to a variety of advert sites (a new tab/window opens)and then wants to install "adware" *.exe files. Each time I try it's a new ,exe/advert pops up to install on computer. Is this normal? I do not want to get hacked! Thank you. Jim
