SOUTH AFRICAN ROCK
VA - Artists of South Africa (A Butterboy Compilation) CD1+CD2+CD3
While Africa has a wonderful traditional music scene covering all areas of the country, this collection of songs is mainly related to the rock scene in South Africa.
South Africa has been the birthplace of many brilliant rock ‘n’ roll bands. There have been so many bands who have help mould South African rock. One of the issues with South African rock music is that it all too often begins and ends it’s life in South Africa, without exposure to the rest of the world . In the 60's and 70's there was a thriving, mostly white, rock music scene. Bands like The A-Cads, McCully Workshop Inc., Abstract Truth, Freedoms Children, Johnny Clegg and Savuka, Hugh Masekela and others have had some international recognition, but It would be hard to find these artists appear on many western rock or similar sounding compilations.
So, here are 75 South African rock artist tracks that sound great, songs from 1966 to present. I hope you enjoy these.
