The Harry Smith B-Sides box set contains the flip side of every 78-rpm record that Harry Smith included on the Anthology of American Folk Music. In 1952, Folkways Records published the legendary six-LP series entitled the Anthology of American Folk Music, compiled by eccentric record collector, filmmaker, artist, and anthropologist Harry Smith. Many historians cite Smith's reissue, with its recordings of country, blues, and gospel music from the 1920's and '30's, and its booklet containing idiosyncratic liner notes, esoteric artwork, and handmade design as a major impetus for the folk music revival of the 1950s and '60s. 68 years later, The Harry Smith B-Sides offers both a resonant listening experience and the closing of a collector's circle. Sequenced in the identical order that Smith created, this new box set offers the flip-side of each record selected by Smith for the original Anthology of American Folk Music. Steve Tilston ‎- Reaching Back The Life and Music of Steve Tilston [2007] (5 x CD's)

Steve Tilston was born in Liverpool and brought up in Leicestershire. A graphic designer before taking up music in 1971, Tilston lived in Bristol where he recorded his first album, An Acoustic Confusion. In the early 1980's, he ran a folk club with Bert Jansch in New Kings Road, London. Tilston recorded a rock album in 1982 called In for a Penny – In for a Pound, but soon reverted to quieter music. In 1985, Tilston played guitar and mandolin with the on-stage band for "Sergeant Early's Dream" while on tour with Ballet Rambert, and again when the ballet toured England in 2000–2001. Tilston formed his own record label, Run River, in 1987, and in 1988 he was a member of John Renbourn's group Ship of Fools, which released one eponymous album on Tilston's label. In 1990, he was a session musician on Peter Bellamy's album Soldiers Three. By the 1990's, Tilston was frequently performing with Maggie Boyle, his on- and off-stage partner. Tilston garnered positive reviews in the United States for his 1992 album, Of Moor and Mesa, which contained two of his compositions, "The Slip Jigs and Reels" and "Naked Highwayman", that were later recorded by Fairport Convention. Tilston formed Hubris Records in 1995. (Wikipedia)

The wealth of Tilston's finest songs in this much-overdue showcase and celebration will delight his many fans, and introduce his fine work to an even wider audience: As respected world music authority Andy Kershaw said of Steve recently: "The songwriters' songwriter.... One of the most consistently outstanding songwriters of his generation".  This is an amazing box set by a superior singer/songwriter. He is a totally different player than his countryman Richrd Thompson. But the acoustic fingerpicking is superb. It is a rarity these days to hear fingerpicking on this type of recording, let alone a recording of this quality. Be enthralled. (Amazon)

Book A Trip,  subtitled, The Psych Pop Sounds of Capitol Records is a great collection of rare late 60's Psych gems from the Capitol Records. Productions by the likes of David Axelrod collide with arrangements by Leon Russell and compositions by David Gates, Neil Young, and many others, proving why Capitol Records was the undisputed leader of Pop during this pivotal era. All original capitol singles, circa 1966 1969, are sourced from original master tapes. Book a Trip has 26 tracks from singles released on Capitol from roughly 1966-1970, most of them making their CD debut. The actual sounds are very much more "pop" than "psych," and it might be more accurate to peg these as pop recordings reflecting some influence of the psychedelic era rather than tracks combining pop and psychedelia. Certainly they're obscure and collectable. Summer Snow's "Flying on the Ground" is one of the earliest covers of a Neil Young song.

Book A Trip 2.   Once more, Now Sounds raids the Capitol Records vaults in Hollywood for late-60s Psychedelic Pop/Soft Pop obscurities and unearths a treasure trove of first-time-on-CD gems. Productions by the likes of Micahel Lloyd collide with arrangements by Mort Garson and Gene Page and compositions by Harry Nillson and Kim Fowley, and performances by many legendary Wrecking Crew members, proving why Capitol Records was the undisputed leader of pop during this pivotal era. All original Capitol singles, circa 1966 - 1969, are sourced from original matser tapes. Some are presented here in stereo for the first time ever! Most tracks are first time only on CD! Mastered by Alan Brownstein from the original matser tapes! Produced and compiled by Steve Stanley.  This is a long overdue compilation of forgotten, and in some cases, ignored tracks from the '60s. Steve Stanley the producer has painstakingly trawled the vaults of Capitol Records for long neglected master tapes and remastered them using today's technology. For me the stand out track is Robbi Curtice's "When Diana Paints the Picture", a rare and beautiful song, that was only ever previously released in USA. Great. Even better than Book A Trip 1. Only one compilation per week from each contributor with a limit of 25 tracks per track list per submission. (Total 25 tracks only). You can submit a new track list the following week.

The Topic is your choice, Genre is your choice and any music is acceptable. (If readers don't like the topic or choices then they don't have to pick them up)

 When presenting your submission, the Topic of your compilation should be Noted as well as the sound quality of the compilation. (ie 320Kbps MP3, Flac, etc).

Whilst most would prefer MP3's @ 320 kbps all I request is a good sound quality. 

A track list must be supplied together with a LINK for your Compilation.  (please do not send the compressed file)

Artwork is not necessary but would be welcomed.

All submissions need to arrive via email  to:

Entries must be recieved by  Midnight ,Wednesday. (Wherever you are in the world.)
