Georgie Fame (born Clive Powell; 26 June 1943) is an English R&B and jazz musician. Fame, who had a string of 1960's hits, is still performing, often working with contemporaries such as Alan Price, Van Morrison and Bill Wyman. Fame is the only British music act to have achieved three number one hits with his only Top 10 chart entries: "Yeh, Yeh" in 1964, "Get Away", in 1966 and "The Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde" in 1967.

Georgie Fame is a seminal figure in British popular music who helped to introduce the sounds of rhythm and blues, jazz, soul, ska and other 'black' music styles to a UK audience in the 1960's. Remastered at Abbey Road under the supervision of Georgie's son and touring guitarist, Tristan Powell, this set features Georgie's first four seminal Columbia LP's plus 60 bonus tracks: singles, b-sides, rarities, BBC sessions, bootlegs and 18 previously unreleased cuts, plus a 48-page booklet, five post cards and a poster of a rare photo of Georgie and Mick Jagger backstage in 1964.

An awesome box set from the mid 60's mod king himself!!!!, this box set is long overdue and is loaded with a lot of goodies any fan of early to mid 60s mod will love or just if you liked the swinging London sound of 50 years ago by one of the biggest names in the uk on that scene, you to will love this beautiful box set.  (Amazon)

A Superb compilation from Pressure. They continue to be one of the two or three best reggae labels in the biz, along with Wackies. A compilation of British Roots Reggae from the late 70's and early 80's.

A great compilation to learn about the history of immigrant Jamaicans who flowed to England and started playing their hometown music with their own hands. Reggae is a reggae, but the influence from soul, funk and rock is extra, and the atmosphere of Britain covers the whole, but it is a valuable and important narcissus board that you can experience it. At it's best British Roots Reggae has a distinct, slightly more spacey sound than it's Jamaican counterpart and I've known some of the more, shall we say 'choosy' reggaeheads baulk at the 'inauthentic' sound. Whatever.... they're missing out on some fine tunes and heavy heavy discipline. All of the usual Brit Reggae suspects are present and correct with some of their finest songs: Misty, Aswad, Black Slate, Steel Pulse and there are a clutch of top ranking selections from slightly more obscure artists to complete a fine collection. The Topic is your choice, Genre is your choice and any music is acceptable. (If readers don't like the topic or choices then they don't have to pick them up)

 When presenting your submission, the Topic of your compilation should be Noted as well as the sound quality of the compilation. (ie 320Kbps MP3, Flac, etc).

Whilst most would prefer MP3's @ 320 kbps all I request is a good sound quality.

An extensive, sumptuous survey of surely the mightiest Gospel label of them all. Sixty-one gems of stomping, rollicking, desolate, ravishing gospel music, intermingling with soul, blues, doo-wop, jazz, r&b, disco and boogie. Covering 1954-1966, the first disc is infused and incandescent with the hurting, surging indignation of the Civil Rights movement. Twenty-four heart-stopping scorchers by giants like the Staple Singers and Jimmy Scott, alongside less celebrated names like the Harmonising Five of Burlington, North Carolina, and teen-group the North Philadelphia Juniors, culminating triumphantly with slamming, sanctified versions of Hit The Road Jack and Wade In The Water. The second disc presents sublime crossings of gospel with the soul, funk and jazz of the Black Power era. Twenty rapturous cuts dot dazzlingly between Muscle Shoals soul, screwed breakbeat, Mizells-style fusion, disco and proto-house. Triumphant re-workings of Sly Stone, Donny Hathaway and Herbie Hancock's Head Hunters will have listeners throwing their pew cushions into the air. The third disc selects fierce funk, rapturous soul and transcendent disco and boogie, loaded with roaring choirs, rocking horns and popping bass guitars, super-charged with celebration and affirmativeness, from the years leading up to Savoy's acquisition by Malaco. Drawn from nigh-impossible-to-find 78's, sevens, twelves and LPs, hardly any of these recordings perhaps none have been reissued since their first release. The third disc opens with a stupendous onslaught by Edith Moreno which only appeared as a tiny handful of blank-label promos. Presented as a sixty-page mini-book, perfect-bound, with CD's suspended in card sleeves; beautifully designed, with stunning, rare photographs and original Savoy artwork. Sound restoration and mastering were done at Abbey Road

A boxed set celebrating the so-called underground rock music 1968, a year that saw huge changes, both musical and social. 1968 was a pivotal year for creativity in British rock, beginning with some influences of psychedelia still present in work by ground-breaking artists such as Pretty Things, Tomorrow, Incredible String Band, Idle Race, Traffic and The Move, but gradually giving way to styles influenced by jazz, blues, folk and more that would eventually become termed as "progressive", "folk-rock" and "hard" rock, all of which championed by "underground" figures of the day such as DJ John Peel on his BBC Radio One show Top Gear and by publications such as International Times and Oz. The common thread among all of these artists was an emphasis on experimentation and a desire to push the perceived boundaries of popular music. Aside from featuring better known acts such as Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Procol Harum and Pentangle, this compilation also features lesser known acts that produced work of a wide breadth such as Eyes of Blue, Love Sculpture, The Action, Dantalian's Chariot, Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, Gun, Second Hand, The Moles and Blonde on Blonde. This collection celebrates a creative period when rock music was evolving into something altogether more serious, moving away from the single as medium to give way to the dominance of the album. Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, created by French sculptor Paul Landowski and built by Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in collaboration with French engineer Albert Caquot. Romanian sculptor Gheorghe Leonida fashioned the face. Constructed between 1922 and 1931, the statue is 30 metres (98 ft) high, excluding its 8-metre (26 ft) pedestal. The arms stretch 28 metres (92 ft) wide. The statue weighs 635 metric tons (625 long, 700 short tons), and is located at the peak of the 700-metre (2,300 ft) Corcovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park overlooking the city of Rio de Janeiro.

Columbus Calvin "Duke" Pearson Jr. (August 17, 1932 – August 4, 1980) was an American jazz pianist and composer. Duke Pearson wrote the song, ‘Cristo Redentor,’ (Christ the Redeemer).The song is a slow hymn, a graceful peaceful musical walk of respect and tribute to the power of humanity and art.

Pearson said he was inspired to write the song while in an airplane over Rio De Janeiro. He was on tour with the late, great Nancy Wilson. Pearson forged a friendship and working relationship during his career with the great Donald Byrd. No accident that Byrd recorded ‘Cristo Redentor,’ in 1970.   Pearson arranged the very famous and legendary Byrd version. It is a certified gold record. Byrd’s trumpet captures the awe Pearson must have felt as he saw the statue over Rio so high above the people below. The statute has its own history and presence now.
