As a great follow-up to the superb ACE Power Pop Collection, I decided to revisit my own Power Pop compilation and expand upon it with better sounding, higher quality files and original mono single edits.

50 new tracks have now been added to the original 100 tracks by a number of bands who were suggested by visitors to BB's blog. The dB's, Purple Hearts, The Chords, The Spongetones, Jellyfish, more Jam along with many others have now been added to make a sensational 150 track collection of the very best power pop songs ever released. Now almost 8 hours of classic power pop!

Following hundreds of hours of extensive research reading through critic's polls, readers and listeners polls, online discussion forums votes (Steve Hoffman), Will Birch insight and favourites listed, Wikipedia info, my own recollections and favourites, I have finally settled upon my 150 Greatest Power Pop Songs of All Time collection.

Pete Townshend, the guitarist and principal songwriter for The Who, is credited as the originator of the name “power pop.” He used the phrase to describe the type of music The Who performed in the late 1960s - upbeat, catchy, hook-driven - but the name wouldn’t catch on until the 1970s. "Pictures of Lily" was included in the Who album Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy, a compilation of previously released singles. Townshend coined the term "power pop" when he used it to describe the song in a May 1967 interview with NME.

Compiled after exhaustive and extensive research, these are the top 150 songs which are mentioned and feature most on many power pop discussion forums, critics and fan lists.

There has never been a really good official power pop compilation with a thorough overview from the 60s thru the 00s, and like my previous 'greatest' collections, my goal was to include the very very best of the genre, the cream of the crop, and to add a number of tracks you just never see on compilations due to licensing, music rights issues, etc. No later remixes, re-recordings, 'stereo enhanced' or live bootleg versions here! Compiled as always using the very latest and highest quality digital remasters, with a considerable number of tracks sourced from the original master tapes for superior sound quality and enjoyment.
