AUSSIE NOVELTY
VA - Australian Pop Classics Series, Novelty Songs Of The 60s & 70s [1998]
G’day! The album “VA - Australian Pop Classics Series, Novelty Songs Of The 60s & 70s,” released in 1998 by EMI, is a ripper collection that captures the bonkers and cheeky spirit of Aussie pop from the swinging 60s and groovy 70s. This cracker of a compilation is packed with novelty tunes that had everyone chuckling back in the day.
You’ve got Joe Dolce telling everyone to “Shaddup You Face,” and John Williamson’s “Old Man Emu” flapping about. Then there’s “The Pushbike Song” by The Mixtures, perfect for a pedal down memory lane, and Drummond’s “Daddy Cool,” which is cooler than a kangaroo in sunnies.
This album is like a time machine, taking you back to when Aussie pop was all about having a laugh and a good time. It’s a must-listen for anyone keen on the history of Aussie music and its wild ride through the decades. Cheers! (B)

What scares me is that I know all of these - novelty songs are a bit like ads - they stick in your memory.
ReplyDeleteHi Dr Robert
DeleteSadly, missing artists like, Austen Tayshus, Norman Gunston, Kevin "Bloody" Wilson, Rodney Rude and more.
Some of these are actually good tunes.
A very puzzling compilation for me.
Cheers.
Thanks BB
