Hi BB. John it's for U.
ReplyDeleteBoth are very representative collections Herve!
DeleteThanks BB I like the translation of the Greek titles!
ReplyDeleteFor those that will probably be further interested…
ReplyDeleteNicholas Asimos was the ultimate rock figure in Greece.
Politics were always a crucial part in his lyrics, so his first 45’’ single “Mechanism” with flip side “Romios” (Also included in this collection) was forbidden by the Greek Military Junta in one day.
Mechanism is referring to the value and believes "selling" in order to get in the music system. Here are the lyrics
Ο Μηχανισμός (Mechanism)
Νικόλας Άσιμος (Nicholas Asimos)
I was persuaded to become a revisionist and make a record But there will come a time when you too will be convinced, that I don’t like that. What I am going to do, it was meant to be
Either if I want it or not, I have to sell whatever I sing in order to live.
When I go to the producer, I have to manage my lyrics such a way
to make him like them, in order to sell them.
There should have salepi (Sweet drink) in there, so that you like them
They should have a theme dealing with love and blood
Let them be words, rosary words, to ease your hearts, to nurture you.
And by a colleague's debt I have to smile to the public
To make them shake, for settling them down
To whistle to them, to lull them
To inflame them, to deflate them
And to be an opportunist in the commune,
for relaxing you within’ the framework of the law.
They told me that it’s your job to hide the vulnerabilities of the established ones
for maintaining the finances of the pleased ones
Rest assured and thanks to God, the good in capitalism
is that it has a screw
If you figure out the mechanism, you catch the rabbit by the ears
You eat Pelopidas (a man’s name) with tweezers
You give a ball as a present to Parthenope (woman’s name)
And over the years you hang out in the upper class
You forget the mother that gave you birth in tears
And you got on the worker's back
But he will eventually say no more
Get the hell out of here
Get the hell out of here
I was persuaded to become a revisionist and make a record
But there will come a time when you too will be convinced, that I don’t like that.
First thing I thought of, John will like this.
ReplyDeleteThanks BB
