It's worth clarifying was a first hit - A first hit, also known as a hit record, hit single, or simply hit, is a song or instrumental that becomes widely popular and has made its mark on official music charts through repeated radio airplay, audience impressions, significant streaming data, or commercial sales. While many artists go on to achieve even greater success, their first hit is the genesis of their musical journey.  A song is considered a first hit if it entered the top 100 charts anywhere in the world. Additionally, tracks that charted in multiple countries are also included, giving you a global perspective of these artists' initial breakthroughs. This compilation is not limited to one region. 

In the United States, a single is considered a hit when it reaches the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, while in the United Kingdom, it's the top 75 of the UK Singles Chart. However, the magic number of "100" holds significance; since the Official Charts Company increased their chart size on 23 June 2007, reaching the top 100 signifies a hit due to the expanded singles market, including download singles.
