BLUE EYED SOUL
Blue-eyed soul (also known as white soul) is a term used to describe R'nB or soul music performed by white artists. The term doesn't refer to a distinct style of music, and the meaning of "blue-eyed soul" has evolved over decades. Originally, the term was associated with mid-1960s white artists who performed soul and rhythm and blues music that was similar to the raw, expressive music of Motown. Many blue-eyed soul singers have been described as "sounding black", because they had a full voice with a throaty, resonant timbre. To a lesser extent, the term has been applied to singers in other music genres that are influenced by soul music. (Wikipedia)
I really don’t like the term "Blue Eyed Soul". There should be no Black Soul, White Soul or Blue Eyed Soul. It's just SOUL music to me. But that is what the marketing gurus have named it. It has a distinct feeling of its own and does not really sound like the Soul music I am used to. However, I do like the sounds that these listed artists have created.
