What's great about the Get Easy! series is that regardless of which sound, style, or genre a particular disc has in its sights, the end result is a damn near-definitive overview of its subject

The Get Easy! series stays mostly within the late-'60s period, joined by beautiful old winter pop songs from the 50s to 70s, so that you get into a pleasantly light, lively snow and Christmas mood while listening. The material is wildly diverse, embracing jazz, funk, sunshine pop, the girl group sound, psychedelic soul and a few little-heard obscurities. All selections share a sense of joy and warmth that's sweet but never saccharine and refuse to grow tiresome even on repeated listening. In short, it's the perfect soundtrack for pretty much any end-of-calendar-year scenario and deserves a space in the holiday canon alongside classics like A Christmas Gift for You From Phil Spector and Vince Guaraldi's A Charlie Brown Christmas.  Of course, there aren't any "standards" on this collection, but if you want to round out your collection with tracks that are high on the hip quotient, and with some so kitschy they are cool again or most - just great fun pop tracks. Finally, a wall-to-wall great collection of Christmas tracks that's just plain fun - whether it falls under Exotica, Lounge, Pop, Easy Pop, R&B Pop or Easy Listening, it's all great and a great compilation that you can just throw in shuffle mode.
