12-INCH DISCO
VA- Extended Seventies, The Dawning of The 12 Inch Era [2006] (3 x CDs)
“Extended Seventies, The Dawning of the 12 Inch Era” is a 3-CD compilation album released on May 15, 2006, by Optimum Sounds in the UK.
Disco was all about the 12-inch singles, and it really did encompass a variety of genres and styles while it lasted. It features various artists and genres including Electronic, Funk/Soul, Pop, New Wave, Hi NRG, Synth-pop and Disco. The album is a well-curated and accurate sample of three facets of the music. Disc 1 features the biggest hits and acts like Donna Summer, Chic and Cheryl Lynn. Disc 2 is the deep cuts, with Cerrone, Bohannon, and Gino Soccio. Disc 3 features New Wave artists like Gary Numan, Lene Lovich, Sparks and the Flying Lizards at their most danceable. The album is a clear and well-balanced 3CD set with no sampled 80s-90s 12 Inch remixes. (B)

Thanks BB. "Now That We've Found Love" is one of my favourite tracks.
ReplyDeleteI will listen to it more intently next time I play this, lemonflag.
DeleteI like The Third World...
Cheers.
The Donna Summer tack is the original album version but taken from the 1983 UK 12" rerelease which is where they added the parenthetical thought. The actual 12" version is shorter than the album version by about 3 minutes or so. Just some stupid facts I have crowded into my little brain.
