FIRST HITS PART 1
VA - Chart-Topping Beginnings (A Butterboy Compilation) (18 x CDs)
This compilation is an unforgettable journey through the first hits an artist's genesis of greatness if you will. It aims to show where an artist was first recognised with a hit.
Embark on an extraordinary journey across 360 tracks that span the decades of the 1940s to the 2000s. Each song in this compilation is a reminder of the moment an artist first broke through the noise and etched their name into music history. These tracks do not necessarily reflect the artists' first attempt at a hit or their biggest hits (though some may be their greatest hit), instead, this series celebrates the FIRST HIT, those songs that burst onto the scene and propelled these artists towards stardom.
It's worth clarifying that this is an artists' first hit - A first hit, also known as a hit record, hit single, or simply hit, is a song or instrumental that becomes widely popular and has made its mark on official music charts through repeated radio airplay, audience impressions, significant streaming data, or commercial sales. While many artists go on to achieve even greater success, their first hit is the genesis of their musical journey. A song is considered a first hit if it entered the top 100 charts anywhere in the world. Additionally, tracks that charted in multiple countries are also included, giving you a global perspective of these artists' initial breakthroughs. This compilation is not limited to one region.
In the United States, a single is considered a hit when it reaches the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, while in the United Kingdom, it's the top 75 of the UK Singles Chart. However, the magic number of "100" holds significance; since the Official Charts Company increased their chart size on 23 June 2007, reaching the top 100 signifies a hit due to the expanded singles market, including download singles.
Beyond the Numbers, these tracks left an indelible mark on the music landscape.
Why should you dive into this meticulously curated compilation of first hits? These tracks offer a unique glimpse into the raw, unfiltered talent of artists at the dawn of their careers. You'll experience the excitement and energy that comes with a debut hit, the spark that ignited their rise to fame. It's a journey through music history, showcasing the diversity and evolution of genres over the decades. Feel the thrill of discovery once more as you listen to the first hits that became the steppingstones to legendary careers. Whether you're a seasoned music lover or a curious newcomer, this compilation is a treasure of musical milestones waiting to be explored. (B)
All tracks are presented in year of release order.
Please note:
This set will be presented in two parts. This is PART 1, and it showcases the first 9 CDs.
