Adam Ant (born Stuart Leslie Goddard, 1954, London) is an English singer, songwriter, and performer best known as the frontman of Adam and the Ants and for his later solo career.

He first emerged in the late 1970s post-punk scene with Dirk Wears White Sox [1979], before achieving major success in the early 1980s with Kings of the Wild Frontier and Prince Charming. His music combined punk energy with tribal-style drumming and strong visual identity, helping define the New Romantic era.

After the band split, he moved into a successful solo run with hits like “Goody Two Shoes” from Friend or Foe [1982]. Through the 1980s and 1990s, he continued releasing albums while also appearing in film and television.

Known for his distinctive style and rhythmic approach, Adam Ant remains a unique figure bridging post-punk, pop, and theatrical performance.

Adam and the Ants begin as something more restless than a typical band, and that restlessness carries through the full span of “A Box of Adam & The Ants.” At the centre is Adam Ant, moving from the stripped, art-school edge of the late 1970s into a broader solo identity through the 1980s and beyond. What holds it together is not a fixed lineup or era, but a clear sense of intent, image, rhythm, and a willingness to reshape the sound without letting go of its core character.

The music shifts in form but keeps a recognisable pulse.
