Looking forward to Lucky Dip#528, lots of great things to listen too. Saw Jesus & Mary Chain many years ago, it was one of the top 3 loudest shows I ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi pujwa,
DeleteGreat to hear you’re already looking forward to this one. Jesus & Mary Chain could level a room. That wall of sound was something else, the kind of loud that stays in your bones long after the show.
Glad to hear that this Dip gives you plenty more to dive into.
Cheers.
this is a great compilation, love the jason especially. saw him in richmond with his 400 unit and it was a great show. Thanks again for everything that you post, i check your page every day and look forward to each lucky dip. Although everything you post may not be for me, this page has broadened my horizons and has been a fun way to expand my never ending music collection.
ReplyDeleteThanks, ZenPenguin,
DeleteGreat to hear this one hit the spot. Jason really does shine in any setting, and catching him with the 400 Unit must have been a powerhouse night. Thanks as well for checking in each day, that kind of steady company means a lot. Even when something isn’t quite your style, I’m glad the page keeps opening new doors and feeding that ever‑growing collection.
Cheers.
Another great selection of known and (largely) unknown peculiarities & choice cuts. It does make you wonder though: just how many albums have been released down the years? Every week - nearly every day, in fact - i find that there are hundreds, nay thousands of releases, sometimes by bands and artists i know, but more often than not, those i don't, which passed quietly under my radar down the years. There must be millions of individual releases out there, many languishing in undeserved obscurity just as many also bask in undeserved limelight. It's best not to think about it too deeply, lest we become overwhelmed by the sheer scale of numbers. (Plus which, it's all plastic, a troublesome fact all we vinyl junkies conveniently shuffle under the carpet.)
ReplyDeleteHi Richie,
DeleteYou’ve put your finger on the great mystery of this whole obsession. The deeper you dig, the more the numbers swell, and suddenly you’re staring at decades of music that slipped past without a ripple. There really are millions of releases out there, whole lifetimes of sound tucked into tiny corners, some unfairly forgotten, some inexplicably celebrated. Best not to stare at the mountain too long, as you say. Better to keep picking up the odd gem and enjoying the surprise of it.
Cheers.
