SAN FRANCISCO NUGGETS
VA - San Francisco Nuggets, Elevated (A Butterboy Compilation) (4 x CDs)
What I’m offering here is not just another deep‑dive into the Bay Area’s past. This is a listening experience built to lift you out of the usual narratives and drop you right into the pulse of a city that never stopped reinventing itself. San Francisco Nuggets, Elevated is my attempt to gather the shimmer, the grit, the wildness, and the quiet beauty of four decades of music that shaped the region from the inside out. Every track is chosen for the way it opens a door, the way it carries a little spark of the place it came from.
CD1 FOLK TO FREAK, opens with the bright jangle and folk‑rock shimmer that marked the mid‑sixties Bay Area. Wildflower, The Serpent Power, The New Tweedy Brothers, The E‑Types, and The Mojo Men all carry that mix of innocence and ambition. The tracks feel handmade, full of small harmonies and sharp guitars, and the sequencing moves with the ease of a local radio hour where garage pop, soft psych, and early experimentation all share the same air.
CD2 GARAGE BURNERS, tightens the grip abd shifts into the garage‑burner heart of the region. Towaway Zone, The Harbinger Complex, The Fabs, The Vipers, The Plague, and The Syndicate of Sound bring a rawer edge, built on tight rooms, cheap amps, and the urgency of teenage bands trying to cut through the noise. The energy is immediate. These are records made for dances, basements, and small clubs, and the compilation preserves that sense of motion.
CD4 SUNSET ECHOES, closes the set with a reflective sweep. Womb, It’s A Beautiful Day, Jefferson Airplane, Ace of Cups, Hot Tuna, and The Grateful Dead bring a quieter, more spacious tone. The songs drift between folk, psych, and early country‑rock, carrying the weight of late‑sixties change. The mood is softer but no less vivid, as if the city is catching its breath after years of invention.
San Francisco Nuggets, Elevated is less about defining the era and more about following it as it moves. You move through rooms, moods, and small revelations, hearing how the Bay Area kept reshaping its sound without losing its spirit. This is the San Francisco I want you to hear. Restless, melodic, unpredictable, and alive. A listening experience like no other. (B)==========================================================

Thanks,
