NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS

VA - They Are Native American Indians CD1+CD2 (A Butterboy Compilation) + Bonus VA -  Sacred Spirit I & II, Chants And Dances Of The Native Americans [1994 +2000]

They are many notable musicians and singers, who are from Peoples indigenous to the contemporary United States, including Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Americans in the United States. Native American identity is a complex and contested issue. The Bureau of Indian Affairs defines Native American as having American Indian or Alaska Native ancestry. Legally, being Native American is defined as being enrolled in a federally recognized tribe or Alaskan village. Ethnologically, factors such as culture, history, language, religion, and familial kinship's can influence Native American identity.  Historical figures might predate tribal enrollment practices and would be included based on ethnological tribal membership, while any contemporary individuals should either be enrolled members of federally recognized tribes or have cited Native American ancestry and be recognized as being Native American by their respective tribes. Contemporary unenrolled individuals are listed as being of descent from a tribe. (Wikipedia)

I have only included artists that have been named as be Native American Indians, not self proclaimed indigenous artists. Here are 50 tracks that show the impact of Indians in rock music. The most famous being Charlie Patton and Link Wray.  Also included in this post is a wonderful set of Chants And Dances Of The Native Americans" highlighting the traditional sound that can be found in many of the tracks
Included in " They are Native American CD1 & CD2 ". Whether strait out rock, bluegrass or blues there is no doubt that Native American Indian artists, traditional and Modern added a special flavor of American Rock and Blues...

  2. Thanks BB, looking forward to your comp -
I remember Claus Zundel(B Tribe) received alot of flack
after his first Sacred Spirit comp came out - but, it did bring
awareness of Native American chants etc to a group of folks who
may have never heard them before = Cheers

    1. Hi Coffee Messiah,
You are welcome. I hope my comps share what is a sometimes forgotten fact that these artists are Native American.

The spirit series highlights what i think is a blues and rock beat sound. It would be quite easy to used the drum beat or vocal harmony to make a great rock recording.
      Enjoy the music.

      Cheers.
