  1. In San Jose and the Bay Area, we were very lucky to have the Doobie Brothers and Tower Of Power being "local" bands. ToP would play little places (sometimes under a different name) but everyone knew. You could hear these amazing guys just playing, to play. It was cool. Some people would get so used to it that they would skip those shows, but I loved that chance. Seeing such pros playing close up and loose was unbelievable! At one time you could get ToP to play at your house if you had enough money. (Unfortunately, I didn't have enough, but I looked in to it anyway)
