ReplyDeletethank u. this is an interesting selection
ReplyDeletepublic performance of track 21 "Gendjer-gendjer" was very much forbidden during the anti-communist New Order regime (1966-1998) in Indonesia. the lyrics itself simply told a story about villagers forced to eat limnocharis during early 40s' Japanese occupation. but legend has it that the perpetrators of the failed 1965 communist putsch commonly sing this song in their events, hence the tide was turn when the anti-com won.
