VA - The Jewel Deep Soul Story [2001] (3 x CD's)

This is an extremely rare set from P-Vine titled “The Jewel Deep Soul Story" P-Vine was established in 1975 by Blues Interactions, Inc., (Yasufumi Higurashi and Akira Kochi) Tokyo, Japan. It started out as a label specializing in blues.

Jewel Records was an American independent record label, founded in 1963 by Stan Lewis (record distributor and jukebox operator) and based in Shreveport, Louisiana. He created two sister labels Paula Records (named for his wife) and Ronn Records in 1965 and 1966 respectively as the pop and blues divisions. The first of many retail record stores, called Stan's Record Shop, was opened in 1948. Among the artists for Jewel/Paula/Ronn were Buster Benton, Frank Frost, Lowell Fulson, John Lee Hooker, Lightnin' Hopkins, John Fred and his Playboy Band, Toussaint McCall, The Uniques, Jerry McCain, Memphis Slim, Little Johnny Taylor, and Justin Wilson. For a short time, the Paula label was distributed by Chess Records. Jewel remained active until Lewis sold the company to eMusic in the late 1990s which in turn ultimately was acquired by Fuel 2000, which has been reissuing parts of the Jewel/Paula/Ronn catalog in recent years.
