VA - Altered States (A Butterboy Compilation) CD1+CD2+CD3.

Since the dawn of time, man has been smoking, chewing and sniffing his way towards mystical enlightenment and the odd great cave painting, epic poem or mind-blowing pop song. You have heard people saying, "he probably came up with this tune while he was in an altered state".  There are a few themes that appear over and over again in popular music. In the musical world, drugs, not just pot, are a popular subject matter. Whether for autobiographical, glorification or cautionary purposes, music and drugs have long gone together, usually hidden behind code words and innuendo, are songs about drug use.

In the musical world, drugs, not just pot, are a popular subject matter. Whether for autobiographical, glorification or cautionary purposes, music and drugs have long gone together. After all, it does make up one a third of the ethos that so many people lived their life by; sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll.

Here are some of the best songs about drugs. There are many more song that could be and I am sure someone will say what about that one. I consider this set as Volume 1 on the theme and plan to compile others in the future.  I have not included the Blues and Jazz songs in this set as each occupy another set of discs on their own.    Enjoy!

  2. Do you happen to have the Various Artist Box Set (26 CDs) of 'Sony Music 100 Years: Soundtrack For A Century'?

  3. I was hoping to see Lynyrd Skynyrd's "That Smell" or "The Needle and the Spoon" or "A Little Help From My Friends" either Joe Cocker or the Beatles original. I thought of Jackson Browne, "Cocaine" and Pink Floyd, "Comfortably Numb".
