  1. Notting Hill Gate, that's my station when in London, but with so many exits, it can be disorienting. There used to be a nice lady selling flowers on the steps I wanted, but she left. Then I'd use the book store as a directional marker, then they closed it! Thank goodness the building with the 70's colored panels is grade II listed!

    1. Hi Spidey,
It sounds like Notting Hill Gate station holds a lot of memories for you! Navigating through its many exits can indeed be a bit of a maze. It’s interesting how we often rely on familiar landmarks to orient ourselves, isn’t it?
      Cheers.

  2. Bob Stanley is an extraordinary curator. With perpetually the art of the opposite view. I worship him. "You know, it’s exactly the same way as when I grew up and thought about the ‘60s. When I was a teenager, I was obsessed with The Beach Boys and The Kinks, and I had Best of Bee Gees. (...) So, yeah, it’s just easy for younger people who don’t even remember those times to have rose-colored glasses, I suppose. You have to get to a certain point in your life, I think, before you can realize that it wasn’t like that. It’s kind of anti-nostalgia." (BS)

    1. Hi Herve,
Your respect for Bob Stanley’s curatorial prowess is clearly evident. His distinctive viewpoint and readiness to question the status quo truly set him apart. His musings on the concept of nostalgia and our interpretation of bygone eras, particularly in the realm of music, stimulate deep thought.
      PS Much more coming...
      Cheers.

  3. Thanks for this Butterboy. I was born in London but haven't been back since late 1966. Early 1978 I left Perth with the intention of traveling overland to UK but I only got as far as Bangkok.

I’m sure you have some fascinating stories from your experience to travel from Perth with the intention of reaching the UK and ending up in Bangkok. Sounds like you are settled for good now, but still dream of the London.
      Cheers.
