VA - UNCUT 50 Essential Songs From The Summer Of Love [1967]

SUMMER OF LOVE 1967

Uncut Magazine (UK) was issue in June 2017. It feature story was "Feed Your Head: 50 Essential Songs from the Summer of Love" It was a great story and I was compelled to pull together the list of tracks that were identified in the article. I have previously posted this wonderful set of songs some time back. I see the link is now unavailable, so here it is  again.  It collates all the songs from the above Uncut June 2017 featured article and is presented in the order as listed. Enjoy!

  1. Nice compilation. I do recall almost all of these songs. Too bad 1967 got dubbed the summer of love, in the Haight, it was not 1967, but 1966. In 1966 there was not the massive influx of would be hippies that had no idea how to survive. In 1966 it was a small community where it seemed everyone was productive in one way or another. Plus LSD did not become illegal until October of 1966.

  2. Thank you for sharing the Love, ButterBoy (and a tip of the tinted specs to Uncut, and BobW for his perspective); no way was this over fifty years ago - I don't care what my abacus insists!

  5. Hi Butterboy, do you have any idea where this longer and much, much better sounding version of "A Whiter Shade Of Pale" is from?

    1. Hi Wolfgang,
Its from Procol Harum - Through The Garden Fence, BBC Session & Rarities (bootleg) [2006]. I like this version too.

      Cheers.

    2. Thanks, Butterboy, and great you had found this version and included it! The muffled sound had always detracted from the enjoyment.
