“Spirits of Nature” is a series of albums released by EVA label in Benelux from 1995 to 1999. The series features various artists and genres such as electronic, reggae, pop, novelty, dub and downtempo. The label was marketed by EVA and distributed by Virgin Benelux B.V. in association with BMG, EMI, Mercury, Sattva Art Music, Sony Music and Virgin. The album “Spirits of Nature” was compiled in association with these companies. It may be considered as New Age Music although the term is strange to me.

New Age music is a genre that emerged in the 1970s and aims at creating an atmosphere of tranquility, relaxation, or artistic inspiration. It has its roots in the New Age movement and spirituality. It incorporates sounds from nature and acoustic instruments from different cultures, as well as electric synthesizers and sometimes rock elements. It can be divided into two categories: one that is more eclectic and musical, and another that is more spiritual and used for meditation and healing.

This series is very hard to find. CDs 2 - 6 are very expensive now, if you can find them. However, if you like this style of music then this is a wonderful set. This is full of magical sounds by familiar artists and newcomers. (B)
