BEE GEES

VA - The Many Faces of Bee Gees [2020] (3 x CDs)

The Barry brothers, Maurice, and Robin Gibb, better known as the Bee Gees, are some of the most successful vocal groups in rock 'n' roll history. Few bands can say that they have stuck together for more than forty years, let alone that they have sold over 200 million records in that time. The Gibb brothers had an almost uncanny flair for chart-topping, and thanks to their top-notch songs and impeccable vocals, the Bee Gees were able to build a long career that began in the late '50s in Australia. Along the way, they became a popular psychedelic pop group in England in the 60s, the largest disco group in the world in the 70s, and in the 90s returned as modern entertainers for adult audiences. Their sound and style were reflected in all subsequent generations of pop artists and bands, from Michael Jackson to Justin Timberlake.

Thanks to the trio's contributions to 1977's Saturday Night Fever, it sold over 40 million copies and remained the best-selling album in history until Michael Jackson's Thriller (an album that Jackson admitted was inspired by "Saturday Night Fever") surpassed it in the 1980s. 1979's Saturday Night Fever and 1979's Spirits Have Flown combined to produce six No.1 hits in the U.S., making the Bee Gees the only band in pop history to write, produce, and sing so many chart-topping singles.

In The Many Faces of The Bee Gees, we will go on a journey through the inner world of the greatest chameleons of pop music. A full live concert awaits us with many of their most famous hits. We will hear their early and rarely heard songs, and turn to their incredible, ingeniously reworked catalog. (Amazon)

CHUCK BERRY

VA - The Many Faces of Chuck Berry, A Journey Through the Inner World of Chuck Berry [2017] (3 x CDs)

Son of the blues, boogie woogie and rhythm & blues, rock and roll was first known under the name of 'jump blues', a more rhythmic and sped up sub-genre of blues, with the well-marked (and very danceable) snare beat. In 1955, 'Maybelline' Chuck Berry's first single is released, and with it, a new era begins. Admired by everybody from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to Elton John, Eric Clapton and AC/DC, Chuck Berry's influence on the world of music has been massive. In The Many Faces of Chuck Berry we will explore his explosive live performances and his blues roots; we will dig deep into his catalog of hits performed by other artists, and we will review some of his fellow early rockers that changed the music landscape more than 60 years ago. With fantastic artwork, remastered sound and extensive liner notes, this an essential additional to your 20th century music collection. Although rarely mentioned when talking about great blues performers, Chuck was an exceptional guitarist, who introduced himself to the genre with his own personality. For this reason, on CD One of The Many Faces, titled Chuck Plays The Blues we present nine blues songs that perfectly illustrate this side of his. In addition, we included five songs recorded live in London in 1972, where Chuck was warmly received by his devoted fans. CD Two of The Many Faces is a tribute to his songs, which we present performed by a diverse range of artists, in a way that his influence can be fully appreciated. The selection ranges from British punks like UK Subs and Eddie And The Hot Rods, to underground rockers like The Flaming Groovies, along Uriah's Heep lead singer David Byron and the charismatic Johnny Thunders (former member of New York Dolls), -a sort of Chuck Berry filtered thru heroin-, plus the remarkable instrumental treatment that the Bill Black's Combo (the band of Elvis Presley's ex-bass player) gives to classics. Finally, CD Three is an early rock n 'roll compendium played by African American pioneers such as Fats Domino, Little Richard, Bo Diddley, LaVern Baker, Roy Brown, Jackie Brenston (with Ike Turner) and Big Mama Thornton. The "Many Faces of Lou Reed" box set is a captivating journey through the multifaceted world of one of rock's most enigmatic figures.Lou Reed has been one of the most outrageous American artists of the '70s; an ambassador of the underground world that lives within each cosmopolitan city and always living life to the limit. With a remarkable literary talent and always pushing the limits sound wise, Lou became one of the most iconic artists ever, both as leader of The Velvet Underground and as a solo artist. The Many Faces Of Lou Reed is a journey through his side projects, little-known collaborations with artists such as bass player Fernando Saunders or legendary soul keyboardist Booker T. VA - The Many Faces Of Fleetwood Mac [2019] (3 x CDs)

FLEETWOOD MAC

VA - The Many Faces Of Fleetwood Mac [2019] (3 x CDs)

It's extremely hard to think of any band that completely pivots lineups and stylistic approaches, and then turns out well - unless of course you're Fleetwood Mac. Formed in the U.K. as a hard-edged British blues combo in the late '60s, the troupe eventually gradually morphed into a polished pop/rock act over the course of a decade, and in the process, became one of the most influential bands of the '70s. Throughout all their incarnations, the only consistent members of Fleetwood Mac were drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie; the rhythm section that provided the band with its name. Ironically, they had the least influence over the musical direction of the group. Originally, guitarists Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer provided the band with its gutsy, neo-psychedelic blues-rock sound, but after their departures, the group began moving toward pop/rock, first with the songwriting of pianist Christine McVie, and then with the addition of singer Stevie Nicks and guitar marvel Lindsey Buckingham. In The Many Faces of Fleetwood Mac, we will go down the rabbit hole to explore the lesser known side of the band and also to review the work of most of its 18 past and current members . To complete our journey, we will enjoy the band live during one of their most popular concerts of their half-a-century career. We open CD1 with one of the most successful hit singles of the "early incarnation" of Fleetwood Mac. Man of the world, written by Peter Green, was originally release in April of 1960 and peaked at #2 in the UK chart. Green re-recorded it in 1999 with his Peter Green Splinter Group for their 1999 release, Destiny Road. It's undeniable that the "classic" line-up of Fleetwood-McVie-McVie-Buckingham-Nicks has been the one that has provided the band with its biggest hits. For that reason, the final part of CD2 of our collection is dedicated to five of the band most well-known songs re-invented by Karen Souza, Jazzystics and Anakelly among others. The CD 3 of our project features the band during a live presentation in California in 1997 that features most of their greatest hits including Dreams, Go Your Own Way, Everywhere, The Chain, Big Love and Gypsy Also, it features the live debut of the song Temporary One and Silver Springs for the first time in concert since 1977.
