ELTON JOHN B-SIDES
Elton John - Reggie's Non-Album B-Sides (A Butterboy Compilation) CD1 + CD2
Sir Elton Hercules John CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, 25 March 1947) is an English singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer. He has worked with lyricist Bernie Taupin as his songwriting partner since 1967; they have collaborated on more than 30 albums. John has sold more than 300 million records, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world. He has more than fifty Top 40 hits, as well as seven consecutive number-one albums in the United States, 58 Billboard Top 40 singles, 27 Top 10 singles, four which reached number two and nine which reached number one. His singles discography consists of 133 official singles and 17 as featured artist, as well as 47 other non-single guest appearances. Across his career, John has yielded 57 top 40 hits in the United States, second only to Elvis Presley in total. (Wikipedia)
He also released many B-Sides that were not on any officially released albums (doesn't include reissues or later compilations). These B-sides are mostly wonderful examples of his musical capabilities, and it surprises that they were not originally on albums. He is very talented and prolific songwriter whose career is accompanied by some hidden and rare B-side gems.
Here are Reggie's Non-Album B-Sides in one spot for your listening pleasure. Presented here in date order. Enjoy!

Thanks BB I kinda lost interest after Yellow Brick Road, so I'll give these a listen.
ReplyDeleteHi Lemonflag.
DeleteI much prefer the earlier works by Reggie, but on some of the later albums as well.
I haven't seen this done previously so needed to be done.
Cheers.
Cool idea, BB. I have wondered why there has been no B-sides release (that I know of) on Bowie's massive works.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if his 60s-80s singles featured unreleased tracks or special edits of his many epic songs.
Bless...
Thank you, Winter Hill.
DeleteSound like another great project to explore.
Cheers.
Yes!...A Bowie collection similar to this would be great. Rhino re-issues did contain some "B-Sides" and differing mix tracks, but......
DeleteVery interesting to listen to some B sides of Sir Elton...thanks Butterboy
ReplyDeleteHi Little Bill,
DeleteI think it something that many would not seek out. But it is worth it.
Cheers.
Thanks for this. Been a fan for 50 years and counting. I even named my first pet hamster Reggie after buying Goodbye Yellow Brick Road when first it came out!
ReplyDeleteHi BG.
DeleteI hope Reggie had a great retirement party.
Enjoy these less heard tracks.
Cheers.
This is a wonderful collection. Some of these I have never heard before. This will be a great deep dive. Thank you so much for compiling this collection.
ReplyDeleteThank you DaveF.
DeleteAppreciated. There are many wonderful B-Sides. I hope you will enjoy this set as it continues to grow on you.
