BLACK SABBATH
VA - The Many Faces Of Black Sabbath [2014] (3 x CDs)
Black Sabbath, alongside Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, stands as one of the most influential British hard rock bands of all time. With their dark, mystical, and obsessive sound, Black Sabbath created a unique brand that has inspired countless groups from the late '60s to today.
Over the past 20 years, tribute albums have become so common that it’s nearly impossible to find a new way to honor an act. However, the ‘The Many Faces of Black Sabbath,’ takes a unique approach. As Brave Words notes, the set spreads out 42 songs over three CDs, with each disc having a separate theme. This Set delves into the fantastic world of Black Sabbath exploring forgotten collaborations, best songs, and the artists and music styles they have influenced.
CD1 - The Players, features musicians who have been part of the band. Leading the charge is Tony Iommi, the founding guitarist and the only member who has been in every formation of the band. Tony is synonymous with Black Sabbath. This disc also includes powerful versions of three classic Sabbath songs ("Paranoid," "Children of the Grave," and "Hole in the Sky") performed by rock stars such as Vince Neil (Mötley Crüe), George Lynch (Dokken), and Californian bands Racer X and Agent Steel.
CD2- The Songs, is dedicated to the band's greatest songs, with versions from artists in the United States, Germany, and Argentina. This showcases the global passion that Black Sabbath generates. As a special treat, included are three classic Ozzy Osbourne tracks from his solo career ("Mr. Crowley," "Crazy Train," and "Bark at the Moon"), featuring guitar god Yngwie Malmsteen, Dee Snider (from Twisted Sister), Jason Bonham (son of John Bonham from Led Zeppelin), and core fans Forever Say Die.
CD3 - The Legacy, features 14 tracks of stoner rock, an underground music genre born from the sound of the original Black Sabbath, especially during the period from their debut album "Black Sabbath" in 1970 through "Sabotage" in 1975. Bands like Freedom Hawk, Sasquatch, and Isaak (among many others) bring back the mystique and magic of hard rock into the 21st century. (Amazon)
