VA - Supergroups Vol.1 [1969] + VA - Supergroups Vol.2 [1970] (2 x CDs)

Polydor is a well-known multinational record label established in 1913, currently under the ownership of Universal Music Group. Over the years, Polydor has released numerous compilation albums, often referred to as samplers, which feature a variety of artists and genres. Here are two favourites.

The Supergroups series by Polydor is a fascinating collection of compilation albums that showcase a variety of musical styles and genres.

Supergroups Vol. 1, released in 1969, is a blend of rock, funk, and blues. This album captures the essence of the late 60s music scene, featuring a mix of well-known and emerging artists of that era. The compilation is designed to give listeners a taste of the diverse sounds that were popular at the time.

Supergroups Vol. 2, released in 1970, continues this trend with a similar mix of genres. This volume also includes a variety of tracks that highlight the evolving music landscape of the early 70s.

Both volumes are excellent examples of how compilation albums can bring together a wide range of musical styles and artists, offering listeners a curated experience of the music from a specific era. (B)

  3. Three cracking records there! I have a vinyl copy of Super Groups Vol. 1 and am always on the look out for other late 60's/early 70's samplers. Do you have the Decca 'Nova Sampler' ? I have the original, bought not long after it came out but an mp3 would be cool...
