VA - Heaven Knows You're Here, Sunshine, Soft & Studio Pop 1966-1972

Heaven Knows You're Here is the thirteenth installment in Teensville Records’ long-running series dedicated to the golden glow of harmony-rich pop. This 32-track CD compilation is a radiant celebration of the genre’s most overlooked corners, where lush arrangements, sun-drenched melodies, and studio finesse converged in the late ’60s and early ’70s.

Drawn from a deep well of obscure 45s and regional releases, the set features a kaleidoscope of artists who never quite cracked the charts but left behind shimmering gems. Highlights include Charlie Russo’s title track, a breezy opener with a melancholic undercurrent, and The Innocence’s “Teeny Boppers on Parade,” a slice of orchestrated whimsy that could’ve slipped onto a Left Banke LP. Delaney Bramlett’s “Guess I Must Be Dreamin’” adds a soulful, country-tinged lilt, while The Dalton Boys’ “Beggar’s Parade” leans into baroque pop with a touch of theatrical flair.

What sets this collection apart is its commitment to fidelity and context. Most of these tracks are making their CD debut, lovingly remastered from original tapes or pristine vinyl sources.

Teensville’s curation is both scholarly and affectionate, balancing the sunshine sparkle of West Coast harmonies with the studio polish of East Coast pop craftsmen. Whether it’s the aching falsetto of Richie Bruce’s “You’re My World” or the cinematic sweep of The Virginia Wolves’ “I Can’t Believe You’re in Love with Me,” every track feels like a rediscovery.

For fans of Free Design, Cyrkle, or Millennium, this is a must-spin. Heaven Knows You’re Here is a reminder that even the most obscure corners of pop history can still shine brilliantly when given the right light. (B)
