Paul McCartney - Beautiful Junk, Paul McCartney Deep Cuts (A Butterboy Compilation) CD1+CD2+CD3

Sir James Paul McCartney CH MBE (born 18 June 1942) is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. He gained worldwide fame as the bass guitarist and singer for the rock band the Beatles, widely considered the most popular and influential group in the history of popular music. His songwriting partnership with John Lennon remains the most successful in history. After the group disbanded in 1970, he pursued a solo career and formed the band Wings with his first wife, Linda, and Denny Laine.  McCartney is one of the most successful composers and performers of all time. More than 2,200 artists have covered his Beatles song "Yesterday", making it one of the most covered songs in popular music history. Wings' 1977 release "Mull of Kintyre" is one of the all-time best-selling singles in the UK.  A two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a member of the Beatles in 1988, and as a solo artist in 1999), and an 18-time Grammy Award winner, McCartney has written, or co-written, 32 songs that have reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and as of 2009 he had 25.5 million RIAA-certified units in the United States. McCartney, Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr all received appointment as Members of the Order of the British Empire in 1965 and, in 1997, McCartney was knighted for services to music. McCartney is also one of the wealthiest musicians in the world, with an estimated net worth of US$1.2 billion. (Wikipedia)

Its so easy to miss a lot of Paul McCartney's great tracks as he has been so prolific and has had many bigger hits throughout his career either solo or with Wings.
Here are my favorite deep cuts from his catalogue presented in somewhat chronological order. Tracklist 1 & 2 are predominately solo McCartney with a few exceptions and Tracklist 3 are only Paul McCartney & Wings deep cut tracks. Hope you enjoy a closer look at some of these deeper cuts.

  3. Thanks! I know the Beatles stuff but haven't listened to much of Paul's solo stuff other than the well-played songs like 'Band On The Run' and 'Silly Love Songs'. This will be a nice 'little' introduction.

    1. Hi dc_animal,
Well that is a surprise to me. I hope you enjoy the music here. PM is an amazing artist and sometimes overlooked because of his past. The early stuff is great as are the later songs.
      Cheers.

    1. Hi djmcblues2,
I agree, his first is wonderful. I also think his more recent music is great too. I hope you dig the choices.
      Cheers.

  5. This looks like a good and fair, broad selection from a talent who'll always be categorized into one big (but tight) box, and a smaller box... not fair. There's a lot here I don't know, which is great; and I'm happy that "Flaming Pie" is well represented... even while "So Bad" failed of the cut. Yet what unexpected gem would I have missed out on, if you'd included that one? So I'm not quibbling... and will soon be enjoying. He was wonderful in concert a couple years ago, and will be quite as excellent in retrospective here. Thanks, Butter!

    1. Hi Aging Child,
I hope you find some new material here from PM here among these gems. He always get boxed as you say, sometimes his own words, which drive people away. But for me it is all about the music and he is a master as was his past writing partner. "So Bad" is a beautiful love song from Pipes of Peace (albeit he sings in a very high register which didn't take me to the McCartney voice I know), could have/ should have been here, indeed. I have listened to this comp aver 20 times now and find it a wonderful distraction.
      Cheers
