Wanda Lavonne Jackson, born on October 20, 1937, is a pioneering figure in American rock and roll. She made her debut in 1954 with a country recording, but soon became one of the first female rock and roll singers in the United States. Often celebrated as the “Queen of Rockabilly,” Jackson’s influence on the genre is undeniable. Between 1956 and 1974, she charted 34 times in the U.S. and U.K. as a solo artist. Additionally, she had a notable duet with Billy Gray in 1954 titled “You Can’t Have My Love.” Among her many hits, two of her top ten country songs stand out: “In the Middle of a Heartache” (#6) and “Right or Wrong” (#9), both released in 1961.

In recognition of her significant contributions to music, Wanda Jackson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 under the Early Influence category. Her legacy continues to inspire and shape the world of rock and roll.
