Shel Talmy (August 11, 1937 - November 13, 2024) was an influential American record producer, songwriter, and arranger. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Talmy moved to London in the early 1960s, where he became a pivotal figure in the British rock scene. He is best known for producing iconic hits such as "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks, "My Generation" by The Who and "Friday on My Mind" by the Easybeats.

Talmy's innovative production techniques and keen ear for talent helped shape the sound of the 1960s. He worked with a diverse range of artists, including The Easybeats, Manfred Mann, and David Bowie. His contributions to music extended beyond rock, as he also produced folk, pop, and punk records. He also played guitar or percussion on some of his productions.

Throughout his career, Talmy was known for his hands-on approach and dedication to enhancing the unique qualities of each artist he worked with. He passed away at the age of 87 due to complications from a stroke. (B)
